I’m obviously off the ‘sauce for the next forever, but I was talking to a friend today about how we all sometimes get into cocktail ruts where we only drink the same thing.
So let’s break the rut. What is your favorite cocktail?
Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini
-2/3 cup pineapple juice
-2.5 shots vanilla vodka
-Splash of grenadine
– 2 marachino cherries and a bit of pinapple (garnish)
1) Put the vodka and pinapple juice in a shaker full of ice. Shake and drain into a martini glass.
2) Add the splash of grenadine
3) Add fruit garnish

I don’t have one favorite, because it really depends on what I feel like at the time. So, here are a few:
2 oz. Bombay Sapphire Gin (if you prefer vodka, Ketel One is good, too)
1/2 – 1 oz. Olive Juice, depending on how dirty you like it
Splash Dry Vermouth
Shake over ice, strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with 3 olives, I prefer garlic stuffed.
Put a sugar cube in the bottom of a champagne flute and sprinkle with 3 – 4 drops of Angostura bitters.
Pour in 1 oz. Brandy
Top with Champagne (I like sweeter bubbly, so I use Martini & Rossi Asti, which you can pick up at Target for about $12)
Garnish with Orange Twist
Fill rocks glass with ice and add following ingredients.
2 oz. Vodka
1.5 oz. Kahlua
Fill rest of glass with half & half or milk
I like pineapple jalapeno margaritas and I used to have a great recipe, but I’ve since misplaced it.

@ellie-b: I love a dirty martini!
I’ve actually never had a champagne cocktail although I love champagne AND Casablanca. I love more dry types though. I’ll have to give it a try at some point.

1 parts vodka. Drink.
(ok fine, mix that with lemon juice and ginger ale! mmm)

@MrsTywinLannister: hahaha. You can never go wrong with a good vodka! What’s your favorite?

It’s what I make for my nightcaps:
Bourbon, Coke, Grenadine and cherries. Yum! We gave it a cute name and made it our siggy drink at our wedding.

@Mrs.LemonDrop: Stoli, Goose, Absolut, Belvedere, they’re all the same :-)! I’m not a fan of anything that comes in a plastic bottle though haha!

@MrsTywinLannister: A woman after my own heart! <3 lol
I have to have Kettle though. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll get Belvedere.
Vodka tonics with lots of lemon… or “well seasoned” which is a nice way to call my 5th drink with all the left-over lemon rinds in it 😉 By then it starts tasting like, really good. haha
When I’m feeling frisky I’ll get extra dirty martinis… but I have an automated text warning that goes out to all my dearest to prepare them for the shenanigans. jkjk, but that’s a good idea – is there an app for that???

@MrsTywinLannister: I love Belvedere, I also really like Ciroc.
@FutureDrAtkins: Haha, a text would be a great idea. You should figure that out.

I love me a dark & stormy. Dark rum, ginger beer (NOT ginger ale!), and a squeeze of lime. Mmmmmmmm is it 5 o’clock yet?!?

Anyone have any good bloody Mary recipes? That’s my drink of choice. I can drink those 24/7.

@Mrs.LemonDrop: I have a couple of “Walking Dead” themed drinks that I made for season premeires, etc.
The One-Legged Herschel (Sangria)
I made this for the mid-season premeire in which Herschel looses his leg (it was a coincidence, but provided a great name for the drink!)
1 bottle red wine
1/2 cup triple sec
1 6 oz container raspberries, crushed into the pitcher
1 single-serving size bottle of red Odwalla or Bolthouse farms type juice
Mix, enjoy! It’s particularly good while watching the show because the raspberries are like guts and it can be somewhat comical to watch your friends choke down bits of berry because of what’s happening on the screen.
(ETA: our best friends, who we have had this with several times, like to refer to the raspberry pieces as “herschel bits” ha ha)
Blood Orange Cosmos
I don’t 100% remember this recipe, so bear with me a bit and adjust to your tastes.
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 oz blood orange juice (or you can use regular OJ, but it won’t look or taste quite the same)
a little cranberry juice
Serve with a slice of blood orange

This is my favorite go-to cocktail:
2 parts cucumber vodka (I infuse my own but I think you can buy it too)
1 part St. Germaine elderflower liquor
3/4 part fresh lime juice
You can also use tequilla instead of the cucumber vodka for more of a margarita feel.
