I was thinking about my favorite date i’ve ever had with my FI and would love to hear other bee’s stories about their favorite date.
My favorite date me and FI had was in 2009 i was in the hospital recovering from a surgery and ended up having to stay an extra week due to complications. For anyone who’s ever stayed at length in the hospital its lonely. FI boyfriend at the time Came to see me and brought along some of my favorite chocolate’s and his labtop. He surprised me by buying the movie ‘UP’ which came out on dvd the day of my surgery and he crawled into my hospital bed with me -careful not to tug on any of my many tubes and wires) and we watched a movie on his computer and ate chocolate. It makes me tear up when i think about how special that moment was, it truely the moment i knew he was the one, we has been dating for 3 years. Visiting time was ending at the hospital and our movie wasn’t finished yet so the nurse let us turn down the volume (as to not disturb anyone else) and while we were finishing our movie a steady trickle of nurses kept looking into our room and smiling at us, the next day one of the nurses told me it was so sweet and the whole floor was talking about us durring the night shift.
Please share your story i would LOVE to hear it! xo

We haven’t been on many dates, but I have two favourites.
The first was very early on in our relationship. FI used to be a ballet dancer until he broke his spine and I had never been to a ballet before. The Great Gatsby was showing in Washington DC while I was there on business. He flew there from Australia to stay with me for a week and he arranged to take me to see the show. He had sprung for some of the best seats in the house. It was really special to get to share that with him and get to know a bit more about his passion for dance.
The second was Valentine’s Day of this year. He planned it all out in secret and just told me to be ready to go by 6:30. He came home from work, loaded me in the car, and we started driving out to the Dandenongs. I wasn’t sure what he was planning. He has a “special spot” up there where he likes to ride his motorcycle and just sit and think. Not too far from his special place is the Sky High Restaurant. He had booked our reservations in September, shortly after meeting me, and before he even knew if I’d agree to come to Australia. The restaurant has a huge balcony and you can just see the city of Melbourne from it. When the sun went down, the view of the sunset was just spectacular. I was really impressed by how much thought and planning he had put into. It will be hard for him to top that come next Valentine’s Day!

@MrsHoneyC: I love your story!! Esp. since Up! has one of the best love stories in all animation history. 🙂
My favorite date with my FI was Christmas time during our first year in college. It was my first holiday season away from home, and I had been mentioning how it didn’t feel like Christmas if there was no Nutcracker ballet to watch, and how that was one of my favorite Christmas memories. Before we both flew back home for the holidays, he took me on a walk up the big hills behind our university. There was supposed to be a meteor shower that night, and we wanted to catch it. When we were up at the top, we snuggled with our backs against a low rock wall and watched shooting stars go crazy. 🙂 Then he gave me my Christmas present early–it was a beautiful card that he calligraphed my name on (he always does that on my cards), with two tickets to the Nutcracker Ballet in San Francisco!! He said my present was a big date in the city that we’d go to after finals. I was looking forward to it the rest of the semester. When we finished our exams, we took the BART to San Francisco, had a delicious Italian lunch and explored the city–Union Square, the farmer’s market, the shops. We made it to the beautiful War Memorial Opera House to see the Nutcracker, and then we had dinner at one of the best places I’ve eaten–The Slanted Door on the Embarcadero, over the water. It was the best meal I had up until then!! I loved getting dressed up and getting all romantic over candlelight. After dinner we wandered around the Embarcadero center, got coffee, and went ice skating on the rink by the water. Then we went back across the bay and watched The Lion King in his dorm. hahaha! We had only been dating for 5 months, but it was so extravagant for a college freshman boy, and I could tell how much he loved me already. 🙂

FI sent me a “date in a box” for valentines day when we were long distance. It contained a movie (he rented it so we could watch it on the phone together), popcorn, hot chocolate, and chocolate :). And a note explaining that if we were not long distance then we would have probably just seen the movie together in person, and that this was the next best thing.

Our first date – concert of our favorite band we are both obsessive over, wasn’t meant to be a real date but slowly things started coming together for us (I was hesitant but open and he pursued me like a man possessed, lol) after that night! 🙂

Awww such sweet stories!!! OP, I loved your hospital story. What a sweetie!
We’ve had plenty of wonderful times together… some of my favorites are just when we hang out on the beach.
We met at a bowling alley. I guess it was about a year after we had been together that he decided to take me back there… But it was memorable because he blindfolded me ALL the way there, and drove around in all kinds of directions to confuse me LOL. This bowling alley was about 5 minutes from my house but we were driving for 20 minutes! That rascal. I can only imagine what people must have thought seeing me in the car! It gets better too. When we finally arrived and he helped me out of the car, he parked RIGHT UP FRONT, argh! I had no idea I was in public, and there was a police officer RIGHT THERE! lmao. I’m sure the cop thought we were nuts. But he finally took my blindfold off, and told me how much he loved me and was happy to have met me, and gave me my lovely 3-stone pink and white sapphire ring. 😉 Not an engagement ring, tho! Just a beautiful ring.

I love all of these stories! and I will always think of you now OP, when I watch Up!
My SO and I are always trying to do fun things and different things so we go on dates often still. My favourites are always the spontanious ones that just happen. One happened last weekend where we didnt even plan on seeing eachother that night.. until we passed eachother on the road coming home from work (we live in the country so he was easy to spot on the road) .. he turned around came to my house for a beer.. and the night turned into dinner, walk on the lake front, sitting on the grass looking at the harbour for hours talking while the sun went down, and then dessert at an all dessert restaurant followed by a movie..
Random dates make me smile 🙂

These dates all sound so lovely!
Valentine’s Day of 2010 was one of my favorite dates with SO. It is actually the whole weekend that I loved. (We had been together for 3 1/2 months at that point.) I had made him chocolate covered strawberries and he bought me some (ESP? lol). We also gave each other the same card lol. We went to a wine tasting the day before (Saturday) at a really nice club. We had so much fun.
On actual Valentine’s Day, we cooked dinner together. He rented a Red Box movie for us – Up! (OP, I teared up when I read your Up! date.) and we had cheesecake. During the movie I remember looking over at him and thinking that I love him..4 months later, he finally said it. 🙂 we both agree to this day that vday of 2010 was one of our favorites! 🙂

My favorite date was when he said let’s go for a drive. It was a Sunday. We drove and ended up in Cornwall Ontario, we are from Ottawa Ontario (1 hour and half) we went to a restaurant and stayed by the water there for a while, then came back home. It was just a fun day!

He took me to this beautiful bed and breakfast called “Rosehaven Inn“. It was super pretty. We went hiking in autumn and saw a waterfall. It was just gorgeous. If you live in NYC and want a quick getaway, I totally recommend it.

I have 2.
We went to the zoo and he proposed and we went to seaworld a few weeks ago. It was funny seeing FI get so excited to go on all the rides and seeing the shows. When we went to the shark encounter FI was really quiet but that’s one of the things he wanted to see. When we went to feed the seals and sea lions he got really grossed out 🙂

We went to the Milwaukee County Zoo (really a fantastic zoo) for our second anniversary. We both love animals and I always take a bajillion pictures of the animals but I didn’t take a single picture of the absolute best part. There was a special exhibit that was $2 extra a person (best $4 we’ve ever spent) where you got to pet stingrays. We spent about an hour petting them. They would go around and around the pool and every time them came by our hands they would arch into them just like a cat. There was this especially affecionate one with a crack in his fin that made sure to get us every time he went by, sometimes he’d even double back. I probably pet that ray 40 times. They also sold freeze dried brine shrimp so you could feed the rays, but I don’t think we did that part. It was a really special moment with such a connection to animals. Ever since rays have been one of my favorites.
His favorite date was a bit different. We went up north to a cabin with my parents and one day I spent a few hours painting his Warhammer figurines with him. It meant a lot to him because no one in hs family really appreciates warhammer and how much effort he puts into painting his models. (His mom calls them his ‘toys’ and recently stepped on and broke some of them. (For those who don’t know about warhammer, it’s a tabletop game that like a giant version of chess/real miniature battle where each model is custom assembled and painted by the player.)

I don’t know if I’d call this a “date” since it happened this past winter, but I just really remember it fondly as a great time with my man!
After a huge fresh snowfall this winter, my FI and I decided to go for a late night walk. We got all bundled up in our boots, hats, coats and mittens and started our walk. I noticed some footprints in the snow, and they were extremely far apart. I couldn’t believe the stride on this mystery man who walked before us. I started walking in lunge form, trying to step in the footprints while FI laughed and told me I was crazy. Lo and behold, I slipped into the splits, and then couldn’t get myself up off the sidewalk. Fi came over to help me, and I pulled him down with me and we just laughed and kissed on the snowy sidewalk. We were both laughing so hard, and we couldn’t get up off the sidewalk! It was so much fun.
We came home and built a fire and drank hot chocolate and carried on our kissing and laughing late into the night. It was fabulous and felt like it was out of a movie!
