Just wondering what your favourite dessert recipe is.  Something easy and is a real crowd pleaser!!

Here is my most recent favourite:

Here is my best crown pleaser:

It's a dip that I use with apple slices.

    * 1 block of plain cream cheese * 3/4 - 1 container of regular cool whip - start with 3/4 of the tub then add as much as you want after tasting it * caramel sauce (from the sundae aisle) * Skor bits from the bulk barn (1 big scoop should do it)

Mix the cream cheese and cool whip together with a mixer until it's totally smooth then press it down with a spatula into a wide/shallow dish and smooth it out. Squeeze a layer of caramel on top then cover it generously with Skor bits!

Granny smith apples taste the best with the dip since they're a little more tart, but I've made it with royal gala ones too I think.

Seriously, this is one of the most delicious things I know how to make and it's so easy!

DH's favorite is my key lime pie.  I use fresh key lime juice and a home made graham cracker crust.  But you can easily make the recipe simpler by using a premade crust and bottled lime juice.  This pie comes out super light and is always a crown pleaser.

    • 1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust
    • 3 cups sweetened condensed milk
    • 1/2 cup sour cream
    • 3/4 cup key lime juice
    • 1 tablespoon grated lime zest

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    2. In a medium bowl, combine condensed milk, sour cream, lime juice, and lime rind. Mix well and pour into graham cracker crust.
    3. Bake in preheated oven for 5 to 8 minutes, until tiny pinhole bubbles burst on the surface of pie. DO NOT BROWN! Chill pie thoroughly before serving. Garnish with lime slices and whipped cream if desired.

    Both those recipes sound delicious!

@Julie Pants any tricks to prevent the apples from going brown?

@Juliepants: What are Skor bits?  I don't think we have that in the States.

@kc3636: you can squeeze some lemon juice over the apples to keep them from browning.

    @Meowkers:

I'm thinking Skor, the toffee/chocolate candy bar by Hershey? Just like the Heath bar; but that's what comes to mind for me. FYI @Juliepants.....totally stealing this! Sounds so yummy and different for our bonfire gatherings!

My easy, yummy go to dessert is DH Grandmas cream cheese dream whip pies. We actually served these at our wedding instead of cake bc they were DH favorite! ;)

    Dream Whip Pies

1 package of Dream Whip (or an 8oz package of cool whip if not available)

    8oz cream cheese

    1 cup powder sugar

1 can of cherry pie filling (or blueberry, strawberry etc)

1 9" graham cracker crust or 6 of the mini individual graham cracker pie crusts ( the mini ones serve better)

Mix dream whip according to package instructions. Next add cream cheese, mix well then slowly add powdered sugar. Mix until smooth. Pour into crusts and chill at least 30 minutes. When serving pour filling on top!

In the summer since this is such a light dessert we use fresh cut up strawberries. It's also easy to make ahead and put into crusts when serving. It saves well. It's a family recipe that my family now adores!

@Meowkers: skor bits are hard pieces of toffee. Actual skor bits in the bag don't have the chocolate, it's just the toffee. You can get crushed skor bars, which is exactly how it sounds.

I'm pulling this recipe of the top of my head ... so my measurements may be off (but they don't really matter).

    Sex in a Pan

Chocolate cake (either scratch or from a box)

After the cake has baked and cooled slightly, take a wooden spoon handle and punch holes through out (leave space between the holes). Pour a thin layer of sweetened condensed milk on top the cake (or more if you like it super sweet). The milk will seep into the holes.

Once the milk has absorbed into the cake, put a layer of whipping cream (or coolwhip) on top.

Cover the layer of whipped cream with caramel and chocolate sauce (sundae toppers) and skor bits.

@kc3636: you can also crush up a 500 mg Vit C tablet in some water and soak the apples for a minute or so. It's the ascorbic acid that prevents browning.

@kc3636: I used to make that all the time when we had guests over (or did before we moved and I have no idea what box my ramikens are in)

My go to not necessairly my favourite desert recipe is the peanut butter ribbon dessert from kraft.... everyone looooves it and rants about it all night at literally every party I take it to. just go to kraft canada and search peanut butter ribbon and you will find this recipe you should keep in your back pocket (though you would need a few hours for it to set)
