I get bored of the same old rice. I KNOW there is a way to spice it up, make it more flavourful, etc. The best rice I ever had was made my DH’s dad’s ex-wife. Unforunately, they are no longer together so I will never get the recipe.
So I know it’s possible! Share your favourite recipes!

1/4 c. Salsa
garlic powder and cumin to taste
place all ingredients in the rice cooker and let it work its magic!

MrsGatito: I make my own simple Jambalaya rice and serve it with chicken or shrimp.
Chop up 1/2 onion, 1/2 green bell pepper, and 1-2 stalks of celery. Sautee in a frying pan with 2 tablespoons of butter.
Add cooked rice to the sauteed vegetables. I cheat and buy Boil in a Bag brown rice (you can use white if you prefer) but you can also make the dry stuff in a rice cooker.
Add 1/2-1 full 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes (more or less as you prefer) to the rice and veggies.
Add Tony Chacker’s Cajun Seasoning and a few shakes of Tobasco to taste and serve.
Can add cooked chicken or shrimp to the rice or serve over the rice.

I sometimes make rice and then add in a can of chick peas with some juice, tons of garlic, canned corn, onion, some diced peppers, and kikoman soy sauce (this brand specifically…doesnt taste like fried rice)…. I add that into a non stick pan once the rice has already been cooked and its pretty tasty.

Brown up some white rice in a little bit of oil in a pan. Add in some chopped up onion. Stir in 1 small can of tomato sauce and two cans of water (use the empty tomato can), stir it up and season using garlic, salt and pepper and . I have no measurements because I do this all by memory lol and by taste. I somehow nail it now every time. It took me FOREVER. to get it right. I learned from my grandmother and had to just keep trying and trying until I got it all right. Im making some tonight. Ill measure out the rice so I can come back to this thread with exact measurements. I never thought to write this stuff down lol but it might be wise considering people are CONSTANTLY asking me how I make my mexican rice.
