What have you decided to include in your wedding that is out of the ordinary?

We have decided to have an espresso caterer to surprise our guests later at the reception- our site is 15 mins away from the closest guest and we want everyone to make it home safely!!

We are also having a bagpiper at the ceremony- he will pipe in our grandparents and parents and then pipe us out of the church!  YIPPPIEEE!  I am Scottish and this heritage has been a huge part of my childhood.  I <3 bagpipe music and can't wait to see how the guests react!  Our church is huge so it will be awesome- not overwhelming.

Share your funky ideas- what will blow your guests minds/?!!!!

That's neat! I wish I was having something really cool. We aren't doing any flowers- only pumpkins, leaves and other decorations. Also we are doing hayrides to tie in our theme of fall!!

Pretty much every piece of music that will be played for our ceremony is a string quartet version of my favorite rock song....

I am also a non heels bride and wearing converse... my bride topper is even wearing purple converse

Im sure there is other things just cant think of much

@shunnedbride, if you're hoping that the coffee will sober people up, please be aware that it doesn't work!  Caffeine will just make people think they're less intoxicated, which is incredibly dangerous when they then get behind the wheel.  Closing the bar for some period before the end of the night, encouraging people to carpool w/designated drivers, and then serving coffee as a substitute for alcohol during that last hour would be smart.

Oh gosh, I know I'm tired because at first I thought your post was titled, "shake your funky idea".  I should go home.

Anyway, we're really not doing anything funky though I wish we could.  Its just that we spent all of our money on the venue/food/drinks, so there really wasn't much left over for the 'fun' stuff.  I would of done the fun photo booth if I could of afforded it though!

We are having a brass band at our ceremony.  They will be playing all Beatles songs.

None of our ideas were super out of the ordinary, but I went to a wedding recently where the bride and groom provided "drink food" for their guests an hour before the reception ended. It was really cool. Mini cheeseburgers, pizza slices, french fries, etc. The bride and groom were partiers, and then wanted guests to be prepared for their after party. It was cute.

We aren't doing anything that are too funky, but they are pretty interesting. I'm doing a dvd slideshow for the invitations, handbinding ceremony (instead of the tradtional candle/sand ceremony), a DIY photobooth, for our first dance we're gonna do mash up of some of the songs from Moulin Rouge (our first movie together, it's also our favorite) & bunch of other thignss too. I just can't think of them right now...LOL!!

Thank you Cinnamonroll- we are switching to a cash bar when the coffee cart is open- for the last 2 hours of our reception.  Hence- the sobering up.

cbee- I love the Beatles!  What a fun idea!

What a creative bunch of bees!

    SUCH GREAT IDEAS LADIES!

I'm having 1,200 cookies.  I am not sure how out of the ordinary that is, I think lots of people have cookies at their wedding.  But 100 dozen sure is alot.

Holy cow VirginiaMarie!  That's ALOT of cookies!  YUM!

Has anyone tried the personalized Jones sodas??  I love this idea too!!  We just want our wedding/reception to be really fun!!  Lots of food, treats, dancing and friends and family!!  We don't want anything to feel stuffy and too froufrou!

Oooh I'm so jealous! We really wanted an espresso/capuccino bar with a latte artist but we can't find someone who will do it! I'm so frustrated!

    Our funky stuff is:

    • Our invitations (they're a little modern and out of the box)
    • The Pop Shoppe sodas with my funky paper barber stripe straws
    • Our table water is the Evian Christian Lacroix bottles, I got a great deal on them!
    • All my vintage teapots that I'm collecting from thrift shops and garage sales for our centrepieces
    • Cheese buffet (does that count?!)
    • One of my bridesmaids singing me down the aisle accompanied by an acoustic bass and *hopefully* bongos or some sort of little hand drum
    • Tons of cakes! My favourite!!! FI gets the cheese buffet, I get cake cake cake!!!
    • Homemade caramel favours for the guests

Our reception is tapas-heavy :)!  And our cocktail party meet-and-greet is at a burlesque club.  And we're doing our first look in the desert, which I hope makes for some amazing pics.
