I have two completely irrational, ridiculous fears:
1. Giant boats. This mostly stems from the logical part of my brain that wonders how cruise ships, with multiple restaurants, stores, pools and guest rooms can float on water. The whole concept totally freaks me out. I understand the scientific concept of bouyancy, but the logical part of my brain can’t handle it. I also don’t like the idea of sailing in the middle of the ocean in pitch darkness at night. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps.
2. Stilts. People on stilts are terrifying to me. I have absolutely no rationale or explanation for this. Even when I see them on TV, I get short of breath and get goosebumps.
If I ever saw a stilt walker on a cruise ship, I might die.
What are your crazy, ridiculous fears?

Mascots! But this is partly because they usually come up and try to interact with you.. and I have social anxiety. So I avoid them like the plague!

Insects of all sorts. Rationally, I know I shouldn’t be afraid of a tiny little spider or *gah!* a House Centipede – but I definitely am!
Lotus pods, or ANYTHING that remotely resembles them 🙁

Charlie Chaplin (I used to watch his movies all the time but then every year I’d have the same recurring dream about him and I’d wake up crying and sweating, so I can’t even look at him now).
And now I will not return back to this thread in fear someone will post a pic of Charlie Chaplin lol

Feet! And ants (I should not be afraid of tiny, tiny insects that I am totally capable of smashing but just…*twitch* Knowing that they can crawl on me is just awful!!) And DOLLS (ventriloquist dummies, those creepy ass porcelain dolls…whatever..ugh!!).

Spiders and clowns. As far as irrational goes…anything vein related. Not so much blood but being able to feel my pulse or hear anyone talk about veins sends me over the edge

@Timshel: You reminded me that I am constantly terrified of having something happen to my eyes. Because eyes are so sensitive and squishy and vulnerable and important and just…O_O!!

Lakes. I totally love lakes one day and then the next I am completely freaked that I will be swimming in one and a snake or another equally frightening thing will swim up to me and touch my body. Ugghhh- heebee jeebees! Just happened to me on Sunday- went on the boat with my husband and our 19 month old daughter. I got in the water so she could get in with me. When all of a sudden I got this irrational fear that something was going to touch me (even though I have been in this same water numerous times this summer!). So I handed the baby to my husband and got out as fast as I could. Ugghhh!

Haha I wrote a whole blog post about my stupid irrational fears. They include peeing suddenly and uncontrollably in my pants (which I haven’t done since childhood but NOBODY CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE AND IT COULD HAPPEN ANYTIME) and windmills, which are obviously going to become sentient and start murdering people like the tripods in War of the Worlds.

I work right next to train tracks….every summer when the weather gets bad I get really worried that a tornado is going to hit our building but we won’t know its coming because we will think its a train. Because people always say “it sounded like a freight train coming at us” after being hit be a tornado.

Ladders. I’ve had recurring nightmares about ladders, being stuck on them. Even tiny little ladders with 2 steps!
And hedgehogs. I recently had the most vivid nightmare of a hedgehog and now I swear I’m going to find one in my house someday! Yuck.

Miniature horses! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one IRL but they terrify me. My husband is creeped out by them also.
Mimes. I just don’t understand what they’re up to.
Larvae. They’re completely defenseless but I run away when I see them, even caterpillars.

Silverfish (centipede-like thing) – I hate them! They run so damn fast & according to the web can have a sting like a bee. My youngest cat, about a month ago, caught one and proceeded to eat the legs – all I found was the long body, no legs (shudder) – ish.
