I love the variety you both posted! I think I just added ten songs to my list! I need to start a word file with my list, so far it's mostly in my head ;)
Which ones jumped out at you? And what are some songs that you have that we didnt? We're still working on fine tuning the list so Im curious to hear from tastes other than ours.
If you're still looking for more - do you have a website? We added a song suggestion box on our website, and we've been getting all sort of good ideas!
@mandypop: My ideas are all over the place. I feel like my music choices are a little schizophrenic! Your songs that jumped out at me: Marry Me, We Belong, I'm Yours, Faithfully, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Do You Love Me?, Dancing Queen... and I'm sure a few more.
I'll get my list together sometime today and post what I have so far in a bit.
Here's what I have so far. It's in no certain order yet. Just grouped by fast and slow songs.
Fast Dance Music:
Just Dance - Lady Gaga
Blow - Ke$ha
Don't Stop the Music - Rihanna
Give Me Everything - Pitbull
Single Ladies - Beyonce
Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO
Country Girl (Shake it for me) - Luke Bryan
Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
I Gotta Feeling - Black Eyed Peas
Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Piano Man - Billy Joel - (group "circle" dancing)
Cha Cha Slide - DJ Casper
Footloose - Kenny Loggins
Hot in Here - Nelly
Slow Dance Music:
True Companion - Marc Cohn
Bless The Broken Road - Rascal Flatts
History in the Making - Darius Rucker
My Best Friend - Tim McGraw
Clearly I need more on this list!!!
We haven't started our list yet, but I needed this! Thanks to the ladies who shared, I'm bookmarking this one!
I am planning to use an ipod for my wedding, but this music stuff is keeping me up at night! It seems overwhelming to create a playlist for such a huge event. I am grateful to everyone who is willing to share and inspire me!
Otis Redding - These Arms of Mine, and ACDC - You Shook Me All Night Long - we went through the list the other night and couldn't believe we'd forgotten those.
Keep a piece of paper or a notepad app on your phone handy for whenever something good pops in to your head or on the radio.
I like the notepad on the phone idea. I am always thinking of stuff and not writing it down!
I haven't compiled a definite list. My problem is I HATE most modern music. It seems all of my songs are at least 10 years old, so I'm having to pick and choose a few newer things to throw in there. Whatever you do, make sure there is a good variety. People want to dance, so make sure there are good songs for that. Some popular favorites I've noticed from weddings this year are:
The Cupid Shuffle
Cha-cha slide
Electric slide
Bust a move (lol)
Thriller
One wedding I attended had too much country music. The bride and groom got mad that the guests were requesting popular dance hits, and ordered the DJ to stick to country. Needless to say, that was a BORING wedding reception. It's okay to throw a country or slow song in now and then so that people can rest, but you want to make sure that it's not a drag.
Anytime I hear a good song, I go to my Wedding Music document on the computer and write it down.
Thank you for this post! Selecting music is not something we seem to excel at...

@AngelKitten713: Bumping is moving your chat thread back to the top in the forums so more people see it and hopefully reply! You "bump" a thread to the top by posting anything on it.
@awcm: Thank you for sharing!!! There are a ton on your playlist that I want to use :) I'm loving Don't Wanna Miss a Thing for a slow song and I definitely want to use Bringing Sexy Back.

Wow... I just took The Reason by Hoobastank off my list. I just read the lyrics as I listened to it and maybe it's not quite right for a wedding! lol!
I know this post is a couple weeks old, but I'm so glad I found it! I've been so frustrated trying to pick out all the music and all these lists definitely help. Just wanted to say thanks for posting them!
I'm just starting my list and this was super helpful! Thank you!
A few I haven't seen on here yet-
U Got it Bad by Usher
Back at One by Brian McKnight
What's Right is Right by Taylor Hicks
Two is better than one by Boys Like Girls
Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade
Summer Lovin' from the Grease soundtrack (A friend of mine played this one at her wedding and everyone got really into it with the girls and boys doing their respective parts)
I'll also pick some Fall Out Boy songs
This is one of the most helpful music posts I've ever seen!! Thanks :) Our wedding is still a looong ways away but we just booked our DJ so this will be a big help.

I have been stressing a lot about our music. I will be creating our playlist. I love a huge variety of music, but I want our guests to be happy too! I love top 40, but I also love country, classic rock, motown, etc. I am afraid I will make too many guests unhappy if I play top 40 all night.
I just ordered my invitations this week and I put a spot on the RSVP for song requests. Would anyone mind sharing their playlists or "must have music" for the reception. I would love to get inspiration from all the bees :)
