i'm trying to get ideas for ours and am also interested in what you ladies wrote for your personalized vows.

did you share them before with your fiancé or was it a complete surprise what you each wrote?

Did you memorize them or read off a sheet?

Here are mine! DH and I didn't share them with one another, so it was really nice to hear them for the first time. Truly a special moment. I'll come back with DH's vows when I get them typed up (they're long and on index cards):

You were the first person I met 10 years ago when we were moving in to Birnkrant for our freshman year at USC. It would be several months before we would cross paths again, but when we did, I knew we had a friendship that would last a lifetime.

Our relationship has been like a jigsaw puzzle. Just as the corners provide the foundation for the framework of a puzzle, our journey began with a foundation of friendship. As we turned over each piece and examined it from various perspectives, we carefully placed a new piece of our puzzle together. There may have been obstacles along the way - some simple to solve, others not so simple - and we haven’t always agreed or seen eye to eye. But never once have we doubted that we wanted to complete our puzzle together. So here we are today, placing the most important piece thus far, with the prospect of many more to come.

Our puzzle may not have come with a picture on the box, but I know without a doubt that when the final piece is laid, we will have created a beautiful panorama filled with a lifetime of love.

Today, we stand in front of our friends and family to pledge our love to one another, and I can say with utter certainty and clarity that I love you, and you are the one that I am meant to be with. Our connection has always been stronger than words could ever describe. You are my rock, my protector, and my hope, and I couldn’t ask for anything more than to fall in love with my best friend. I promise to always love you (even when you are playing video games all day long), to lift your spirits when you are down, to support you no matter where life takes us, and most of all, I promise to never give up on our puzzle.
