We are having our friends and family write them. Hopefully that works out! I'll post it when I compile it.
Our church had a set list that we used. Doesn't yours provide one?
I'll attach the one that ours provided!
Our priest suggested praying for everyone's safe journey. And for all the love between all the couples in the room. I plan to also pray for those who couldn't be with us. For those who are lonely (but maybe said in a nicer way).
I guess I will ask the church for the ones they use and then modify them to make it more personal. Thanks for the examples. Here are a couple other good ones that I found online:
For all married couples, that they may serve each other with love, trusting in God's Providence.
For all those gathered here today, in thanksgiving for them, and remembering their personal needs and prayers.
For all of us gathered here, that God will teach us to use wisely the good things He has given us, that they will lead us closer to Him and the eternal blessings He promisis.
Anyone else care to share?
Here's the guidelines;
As a rule, in Masses celebrated with a congregation, petitions will be offered for the holy Church, for civil authorities, for those weighed down by various needs, for all men and women, and for the salvation of the whole world.
70. As a rule, the series of intentions is to be
For the needs of the Church;
For public authorities and the salvation of the whole world;
For those burdened by any kind of difficulty;
For the local community.
Nevertheless, in a particular celebration, such as Confirmation, Marriage, or a Funeral, the series of intentions may reflect more closely the particular occasion.
We're having friends and family write them but this is what we have so far: (I know it needs some rounding out.)
For all children, wherever they may be, that they are educated, nourished, and loved, so they may pass on these values to the next generations of little ones. May they know that Jesus and our mother Mary, are always at their side to love and guide them.
For all Jesuit Volunteers, past, present, and future, that they may always have a servant's heart for peace and justice.
May we learn in each new day of our vocation that perfect happiness consists only in the splendor of God's will for us.
For all of those who are embarking on new journeys. May they be filled with passion, adventure, love, and friendship.
For all of those who do not have the courage to make positive changes in their life.
For those who are without a home tonight, especially those suffering from mental illness and addiction, that we may soon build a world where shelters are no longer necessary.
I thought I'd give an update on how my Prayers of the Faithful turned out.
I used some help from the internet for ideas, but when I really thought about writing these intercessions as prayers, I found the words so much more easily. I did go by the guideline KLP posted above. Here is what I used:
1. For the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church, and all Christian churches, may be trust in Christ and become one fruitful community of faith.
2. For those in our military who risk their lives in the service of our nation, that God will watch over them, give them comfort, and protect them from evil and harm.
3. For all those stricken with pain, sickness, or disease; that they are strengthened by God and aided by their fellow man.
4. For all those who have died, especially N and N.
5. For Bride and Groom, that whether they are experiencing times of happiness or heartache, their love, commitment, and dedication towards each other remains resolute and is used as a foundation to help others.
6. For the married couples among us who have been a source of inspiration and encouragement in Bride and Groom's own journey towards marriage. May you continue to give, be able to forgive, and find the love you hold for each other deepen each day.
7. For all those here today, in thanksgiving for them, and remembering their personal needs and prayers.
