I don’t think she will hate it because it’s coming from you!  Also you aren’t going in blind,  you have talked about and seen what she likes!  I think the morganite with the rose gold will be outstanding!

My FI picked my engagement ring and I had no say in it (I didn’t know he was looking!). He did a brilliant job but he says I probably would have thought that no matter what ring he chose and he’s right! The ring you’re planning on getting sounds amazing and I bet she’ll be happy because it’s come from you and give realy thought about it with her in mind (that’s special).

It will be beautiful and she will love it! How sweet of you to get on here and ask for opinions.

@otto2008:  I think that you have nothing to worry about. Rose gold + morganite = beautiful

Does your gf love morganite or love morganite as an e-ring? I just want to make sure she is ok with a non diamond e-ring.

BTW that ring is very pretty, I can’t think of any reason why she wouldn’t like it. Well, unless she’s not into halo.

@otto2008:  Perfect!

Oh, I would still go to store and try similar rings on to see how they would look. Lots women picked rings they thought they “loved,”  then realized they actually hate them. XD

@otto2008:  instead of morganite, have you considered barely pink moissanite? it is very tough and hard, a lifetime gem (though extra care needs to be considered when setting it due to the pink coating under the stone). also it sparkles a lot! the color is very similar to morganite, but it’s shinier and has more ‘life’. you can get them from Schubach’s online, and ask them to handpick you a nice cut (I like the OEC, for moissanite).

here’s a video of loose barely pink moissanite (I bought one of these!):

I love my ring… but I was also there for every step of the process. I basically had full control over it and as long as my FI loved it too, I could pick pretty much anything (within budget).

It sounds like you’ve been getting her input so I doubt you’ll have any major issues. Generally the ladies who regret their ring either weren’t consulted at all, or their guys decided to buy something knowing that it wasn’t what they wanted (I see it all the time on here and honestly don’t get it). Could you have a local jeweler custom make it? That would be less risky than Etsy IMO. At least you could go back for tweaks and whatnot.

Do you NEED to surprise her? Could you just show her what you’re planning on ordering? Personally I’d rather have a ring I know I like (that I have to wear every day) vs. having a surprise I may not love.

@otto2008:  fair enough, I was just introducing another possibility for that shade of pink! not sure if you guys even knew of BP moissy.

well, my ring was a custom from another country, and we saw neither stone nor setting (except through photos) until it was completed. no regrets here!

@otto2008:  Yeah, you should just show her what you’re planning on ordering. You’ll sleep better at night 😉
