We didn't have a theme! although that would have been super cool! yours looked awesome!
I think my shower is going to have a daisy theme. I saw the invites and they have daisies on them. But I won't know for sure until August 22. Other than the quest list and when and where, I'm pretty much out of the loop.
My shower theme is all about birds. Cute little fat birds, birds flying, feathers, peacocks. All birds. Kind of like love birds, but not sappy. I sort of have a thing for birds. Especially vintage ones.
Mine wasn't so much pretty as it was hilarious. The theme was "Everyone's a Bridesmaid" -- everyone had to wear a bridesmaid dress! The uglier the better of course. I went to Goodwill and got a seriously 80s style wedding dress to wear. It was such a fun day!
My MOH and I chose a Hat Brunch. Everyone will have to wear a hat. Made, bought, simple, fancy, fun, ugly, whatever!! I think it will be great!! I can't wait.
My shower was a princess theme. The invitations were from a designer on etsy called "Calling all Princesses" and they have a minature wand on them. At the shower they had little star wands all over the place and crowns on top of the desserts. Everything was purple and pink, super cute. They even made me wear a flashing tiara all day.
PS I love the Everyone's a Bridesmaid idea!
We're planning a flip flop themed shower for my cousin: "Erin's Flipped for Paulie!" She loooooves flip flops and we thought it would be tons of fun.
My FMIL is planning a Hawaiian themed shower for me because we're going to Hawaii for our honeymoon! I'm excited, I just hope she doesnt go too far with it!
I am having another one that my mom and sister are throwing and I know nothing about it ... but I'm excited about that. I know whatever they do will be awesome.
"High Tea @ The Ritz" meets Garden/Derby party. We are having a tea theme but with martinis which are cleverly named different things for fun. It's outdoors on the lake under a tent and everyone is asked to wear tea hats/derby hats/fascinators & dresses. My dress is presently being made in a pale peachy color with ruffles all over - searching for my hat. Here's some inspirational items for my shower which is only two months away!!!!!!
We are also having the garden portion tie in by making the centerpieces potted herb plants which double as favors - and they each will have a butterfly on a stick in them with the herb's meaning in relation to love/wedding. So it's a gardeny tea party but with glam!
I don't get it. Why are you all involved in and know about your showers? Whatever happened to them being a surprise?
Mine is mainly because I dont have bridesmaids & dont expect my mother to simply do everything herself. Also, I dont know if it's a culture thing but at least for Cubans - the bride is usually involved in her shower & the general concept & has the bridesmaids/mothers execute it.
@Humarockbride - I threw my sister a luau/Hawaiian theme shower b/c they honeymooned in Hawaii - it was a huge hit!
I know the date of my shower (our schedules are too busy for a surprise date...) but beyond that do not know anything yet.
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times; font-size: medium"><div style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px; background-color: #ffffff">We (the bridesmaids) just threw a lingerie shower for the bride to be. Her bridal colors are black and white, so the theme was black, white, and bling! We had brownies and cupcakes with e-rings as toppers, and instead of the traditional shower games we aired the bride's dirty laundry: guests wrote embarrassing stories about her on lingerie and bra cut-outs, then hung on a clothesline. It was a blast!
I found the invitation I wanted and showed it to my friends and FMIL throwing the shower. They knew what theme I wanted but I was still surprised about alot of it. In my family and circle of friends its not uncommon to have the bride give her opinion about the shower, be asked what food she wants served, etc. I am a planner by nature and I love everything to be themed and to go together so its hard for me to completely let go :)
cute ideas! I'm surprised to see how many people were involved in planning their showers. It's a lot of work (unless you have a big family) to hostess a shower--I felt bad not helping out more, even though they were my own showers!
can't wait to see more pictures!
mine is casual, lingerie themed; low key cocktails and bridal games
I'm obsessed with zebra print anything. I have been since I was 11!!!!! So, I'm kind of hoping they do a zebra themed shower, especially since MOH has my zebra print trenchcoat that I bought at Bebe a few years ago. She borrowed it for a weekend in LA, and I haven't seen it since.
I really like the lingerie idea, too. But I think my sisters would be weirded out.
I know there is a surprise in the works bc I heard husband, FSIL and MOH talking about some kind of surprise for me.
We're doing an Alice in Wonderland themed bridal tea. My MOH is making a topsy-turvey cake, cookies and drinks that say 'drink me' and 'eat me'. She's currently polling people to borrow a variety of mismatched tea cups, teapots and garden lanterns.
I think for attire, we'll be doing something similar to what Ms. Guava-Tini suggested (big hats and dresses). I'm so excited. I can't wait to see how it comes together!
I freakin' LOVE that Alice in Wonderland theme! So cute! Make sure you have a teacup full of mustard for those wayward mice!
Mine was a complete surprise and was an Around the Clock themed shower. Guests were each assigned a time for their gift to relate too. i.e. 7am I got shower items, 5pm cocktail stuff, 7pm dinner plates etc.
My mom hired two tarot card readers for my shower. They set up a little area, and did reading for everyone. It was fantastic!!
My first shower was fruit themed and my most recent one was Mediterainean... both around food and totally tasty :)
We threw a "Happy Hour Shower" for a couple of friends of ours. We had it at a local bar during happy hour and had appetizers and margarita/pina colada cupcakes. The guests brought gifts that could be used during happy hour like wine glasses, serving platters, blenders, etc.) It was a lot of fun and a good choice for a co-ed shower.
I just love this and found out about it yesterday! I'm an encore and FI is moving here to SW Georgia from SC so he knows some of my friends & people at church, but not alot of folks, so one of my girlfriends (who is also doing a reading in the wedding) is hostessing a couples shower for us (couples being used loosely-wanted husbands/SO to attend, but some of the guests are single) Also as an opportunity for David to meet some more people and alot of my friends husbands. We are having a UGA (University of Georgia) tailgate themed shower. I'm so excited! The friend who is hostessing it and I were talking about themes and ideas-we had already determined a cookout for it be relaxed and laid back (and more fun for the guys)-but with it being in the fall & football season will just be getting cranked up-I think it will be a blast!
It will be an "in and outside" party-serving on the counter in the kitchen, the table & a picnic table outside, people bring their tailgate chairs (which, except for a few FSU and UF and Tech fans...almost everyone here is UGA!) some pop up awnings set up in the yard-coolers around of beverages and lots and lots of yummy tailgate food! Decorations will be easy too-lots of red, black & white-they are talking about the cake-doing a cupcake cake or a red & black iced Georgia emblem. I think we may wear our Georgia gear too. I think it will be relaxed and easy-not stuffy at all. I want people to have fun, and with it being for us, not just for me, plus-my parents are coming up from Florida, FIs parents are coming down from SC and staying at my house-it will be easy to mingle and visit with lots of different folks. Looks like about 40 people or so! I'm excited!!!
Game is at 7:45, so it will be a fun afternoon of visiting and then people can later watch the game. :)
Mine was a surprise shower hosted by my Mom and FMIL. They chose the theme, Naughty & Nice.
Below is a link to my blog with a recap of my shower... Some naughty pictures are included...

I'm involved in my shower because some of the girls don't understand what it takes to do it all. Most my MOH is doing. I'm just telling her ideas and what I want in it. The bachlorette party is a suprise to me! I know of a few things happening but after that it's a suprise. I'm real excited! I didn't think about a theme for the shower... maybe my MOH did. I'll ask tomorrow when we finalize everything. I like all the themes you all had. Very fun times!
I had a French shabby chic theme - thrown by my boss who has lived in Europe for the past four years. Complete with a croquembouche! It was wonderful!
My attachments never work on this site! Don't know why I bother to try! But the croquembouche was terrific, even if breaking into it was kind of difficult.
our engagement party was a polka dot theme based on a martha stewart invitation :) It was a little too girly for my FI lol
we just had a chocolate shower for my friend! her main color is chocolate brown. we had chocolate trivia, guess what chocolate bars your eating, and you can't say chocolate. and of course the prizes were chocolate themed and we had chocolate everywhere.
artbee... that's a great shower idea! I'm throwing my friend's shower and her color is brown. I think I might steal that idea... it's amazing!
My shower isn't for a couple weeks but it is a Japanese shower! I love japanese culture and we're going to Tokyo for the honeymoon, so they're doing that for the shower.
I. AM. PUMPED!
My shower theme in my home state is French/feminine. I just posted a thread about me and my BFF's crazy ideas for it. It's pretty stupid/funny. :)

I had three showers, and while one was more themed than the other two (the Italy one) they were all lovely.
Garden brunch
Daisy afternoon tea
Italian/Tuscan luncheon
