We named our tables after scientists and used quotes from them on the reverse of the table signs.

Did you get the frames from Ikea? I want the same ones! Though I’m hoping  to paint them another color if it’s even possible.

Back to the original question, we’re doing country names of places we want to go! I always thought names were cool instead of numbers, because who feels special sitting at table 13? Much better to be at table “Germany” instead! That way no one feels less important to us!

I know this is entirely unoriginal, but I’d want to do names of cities that FI and I have been to together. I’d want the little table signs to have a pic of us that was taken from when we were visiting whatever city.

That or names of our favorite TV shows/movies although I’m afraid “Law & Order: SVU” doesn’t really have a great ring to it.

califlorican:  yup! They were a last minute concession. I had intended to fold the table tents from our card stock, but it was one of the DIYs that were scrapped the week before the wedding. I think this worked just fine. I don’t know how painting them would work – you might go and pick one up for testing. At least they’re cheap 🙂

TheGorgonMedusa:  thank you! I actually got the background from our invitations. I used screenshots and then clipped out bits of the images and used them throughout our decor. I’m really pleased with how everything turned out.

We did the word “Love” in different languages with the country/language underneath, but reserved the English version for our table and had our names under it. It was a super last minute decision and I made the cards on Mixbook.com, ordered them on the lowest quality paper for 95cents, and stuck them in little wooden card holders I got off of Etsy for $12.

I loved how they turned out because I designed our invitations and response cards with purple ranunculous flowers and was able ot make our table name cards match. And I think I taught our guests something along the way! 🙂

Our tables were named after stations that the Orient Express stopped at in the 1930s. We used the country’s version of their names as opposed to the anglicised version, i.e. Munich became München and Belgrade was written as Beograd and the cyrillic version too.

I created the labels for the tables myself using a computer. On each one it stated how far it was from the hotel to the place, along with an explanation of the name choice and which stop it would have been on the Orient Express. On the back were some key phrases in the official language of the country of destination, it meant there were lots on the back of Zürich!

We are naming our tables after famous comic book couples and then getting different comic book artists to draw the couple for us to display on the tables.

LuckiestGirlEvur:  Thank you for the lead on Mixbooks!  They are having a half off sale this weekend and I found some invitations that I really like!

TheGorgonMedusa:  Thanks. Have you given anymore thought to the names you would like? I was at a wedding recently where they used the names of places that were significant to them…the roads they lived on/were brought up on. Where their parents lived. Where they had their first date. The church they went to. Where they got engaged etc.

TheGorgonMedusa:  that sounds cool and original. I don’t think I’ve heard of a wedding reception that has had that before.

TheGorgonMedusa:  Currently, we are thinking of doing famous literary couples: Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, Ron and Hermione, etc. However, FI and I are also thinking of doing our favorite Florence and the Machine songs as table numbers, as we absolutely adore her, but many of her songs are featured in our wedding.
