I’d love to see what you lovely ladies have gotten done.
I don’t have any, but FI is all tatted up. When I went with my cousin to be moral support for her first one, I decided to get both nipples pierced instead of a tattoo (tmi??). It was less daunting to me than making the decision of what to get inked. I’ve had them out for years now, though.
But anyway- share what you’ve gotten and why, if you choose. 🙂

I got my first tattoo (do I consider it one or two?) on my hips when I was 19, just after I finally left my abusive scumbag of an ex. I’d wanted it for years, but he was so bitchy about me not getting one because he “didn’t want someone touching his girl there.” Creepy, much? Getting inked was a very liberating experience.
Then, I got the one on my shoulder blade a few months later…spur of the moment thing. The symbols had a meaning once, but now it’s just like…make up your own story. ;P

This is just part of two of mine. My back is completely done and I have both ribs done. I have 8 in total and my FI has a bunch. Neither of us is planning on covering them for the wedding. We consider all of them our live’s journals.

This one is on my right foot. It says “[name removed]” which translates to “hope.” I got it last summer when I really needed to turn my life around. I still love it! I’m excited for the end of the summer because I will be getting another one on the back of my neck for my mama.

Mine is featured in our save-the-date! This is the only picture I have, it’s a dolphin. Photo credit belongs to Lynell Shooks, who is a very talented photographer (does weddings very well, hint hint) in Michigan.

I got mine a little over two years ago. My grandmother and I were very close and she used to collect elephant figurines with their trunks up (she said it was good luck), so after she passed away, I got it. The second picture of is me while I was getting it. Ouch.

I love the elephant and the meaning of it. You look so calm while being needled and inked!

I love everybody’s art and the meaning behind everything.
Zippylef: my cousin’s first tatto was a pheonix. Very cool.
JenniMichele: like a PP said, you do look ridiculously calm!
Purple Nurse: I wish I could see your whole back- that looks fantastic!

My initials in a butterfly on my lower back.
I’ve wanted my initials in a butterfly since I was in college, no matter how cliche butterflies are. Symbol of my growth into the person I am today.
I want another tattoo, something to represent my tech nerdery, but the FH doesn’t like tattoos and makes frowny faces anytime i mention it.
