@Jezika:  I will keep that in mind for next time.

For me, I heard somewhere that if you are going to sneeze but dont want to because ou might be in a quiet place like a library, you should press your tonge on top of your mouth (roof) and go back and fourth it will stop you from sneezing. It works to my surprise. Stupid I know.

If you have hiccups, bend upside down, and drink water from the wrong-side of the glass. Works almost everytime!

to clean garbage disposal – fill with ice and distilled white vinegar.  Run disposal with water – ice will break up into sharp pieces that get the gunk out.

to pick up shards of glass on the floor – use a piece of bread

@GroovyHippieChick:  That shards of glass one is awesome!

I always cut up chunks of lemon and toss them down the disposal…I think vinegar would probably last longer!! Def trying that!

@MrsDrRose612:   thank you!  When I was little I was addicted to the Hints from Heloise books.

Funny side note – one of the first times I met my FMIL she had a glass casserole dish explode on the stove.  Glass everywhere!

I yelled “I need some bread” (so I could clean up the glass)

and she said “there’s no time to eat!  I need to get this glass cleaned up”

For UTI’s: take Alka Seltzer ( drink the full glass) and chase with 2 beers as soon as you feel the uti pain coming on. I was told this years ago and it works every time. The pain killer in the AS numbs the pain , and the small amount of alcohol in the beer kills the bacteria quickly ( beer makes you pee frequently — obviously, it already looks like pee going in!)

@Mrs_Amanda:  oooh, is that a CURE fur UTIs (allegedly?) or just something to numb the pain?? I am a frequent UTI victim and am a veteran w/ AZO and other over the counter analgesics until I can get antibiotics because I was told there is no cure at home…no cranberry juice…nothing.

oh but wait…I don’t drink beer.  Wonder if a margarita would work?

Put slices of bread in your cookie tins when you make holiday cookies so that they will stay moist — change out the slices of bread each day 🙂 (Most people know that one though)

To clean your dishwasher use a packet of coolaid lemonaid. and just run the dishwaser without any dishes.

lost an earring or other small item, put pantyhose over your vaccum hose itll pick it up without sucking it up

to keep baseboards dust free clean it with a fabric softner sheet- also works on mildew buildup.

to get garlic or onion smell off of your hands, use stainless steel stone, removes the smellLaughing

Here’s another UTI tip:

Apparently, if you turn around and face the back of the toilet when you go, it makes it easier to empty your bladder. I felt the early twinges of one a few months ago and managed to stop it by doing this while drinking a ton of water and taking AZO Cranberry. It may have just been a coincidence, but I never ended up getting one.

@MrsDrRose612:  I get them frequently and it always works. I have also suggested it to multiple friends and it work for them, too! I also take sitz baths regularly when I get them. You fill a tub 1/3 of the way full with warm water and add 2-3c ( depending on tub depth)of apple cider vinegar. Then ” sit” aka sitz bath, and get out. Repeat that a few times a day in addition to the Alka seltzer to help relieve pain and it can also relieve itching from a yeast infection and help restore pH balance.

Here’s mine for hiccups. I have no idea why it works, but it always does! I get a glass of water and put a paper towel over the glass. Then I drink the water through the paper towel. Someone told me this when I was little and it’s always worked for me!
