DC-area brides, share your venue. I love hearing about the places that people have chosen.
As for me, we're having the ceremony & reception at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA. We loved the fact that it was right on the water and that the space is non-traditional. This venue fee kinda blew out budget, but oh well, it'll be worth it. 1 more month to go!
Because my family lives in MA and my mom reeeaally wanted the wedding up there (and it's generally cheaper..) we're getting married in Massachusetts but we were also looking at renting the Old Manassas Courthouse from PWC and some other historic properties around here. I love them and kind of wish we were doing it down here (but mom's paying, and I do love the house we have rented...)
We are doing a charter cruise in Annapolis through Pintail yatchs. They have a november wedding special right now that makes it affordable for us. You get a 4 hour cruise, sit down dinner, and beer and wine bar in the package.
We're getting married just outside of Princeton New Jersey, but had we gotten married in Northern VA, I totally would have done it at the Torpedo Factory! I hope we can post pictures after our weddings, b/c I'd love to see photos from there, it looks amazing. :)
We're getting married at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville! (Taking advantage of the discount for Rockville residents and getting married on a Sunday.)
My fiance and I had a blast looking for venues -- free tours of places we never would have seen otherwise!
I'm getting married at the Loews Annapolis Hotel... they have a beautiful atrium for the ceremony and cockatil hour and then the reception is int he grand ballroom. 5.5 months to go!
Getting married at the Gramercy Mansion right outside of Baltimore. It's a historic B&B. Wedding in the garden, reception in the Carriage House.
I like different. The Carriage House has a courtyard and there is no big ballroom type space. People are almost forced to mingle as the dining area and dance area are two separate rooms. It will definitely be different.
We're getting married at McLean Gardens Ballroom in Northwest DC, near the National Cathedral. We are absolutely in love with it--it's great for a small indoor wedding. At first we were worried about the exclusive caterer, but we did a tasting and their food was fantastic, so that turned out to be another vendor we didn't have to find.
We just got married (May 10th) at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. We originally planned to have the ceremony in the Fragrance Garden. The morning of the wedding, we were moved indoors to the Conservatory for weather and other reasons. It turned out to be the perfect location and I am happy about the change....all the benefits of being indoors while still having an outdoor feel!
I'm getting married in 2 weeks from tomorrow! We're having the ceremony and reception on a rooftop patio in downtown DC. It overlooks all the monuments - you can practically reach out and touch the Washington Monument! I think it's one of the best kept secrets for a wedding venue in DC - PM me if you'd like more information.
Brombesa, we're still looking for a venue, so you've got a PM. I'm dying to hear more about your rooftop secret! And congratulations on being almost there!!
Has anyone found out what this rooftop patio location is in downtown DC? I PMed brombesa, but have not heard from her? Any information would be great! Thanks :)
We sent our contract in today ... finally! We're getting married next September in the Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park. It is seriously the coolest place ever!
