Because my family lives in MA and my mom reeeaally wanted the wedding up there (and it's generally cheaper..) we're getting married in Massachusetts but we were also looking at renting the Old Manassas Courthouse from PWC and some other historic properties around here. I love them and kind of wish we were doing it down here (but mom's paying, and I do love the house we have rented...)
We are doing a charter cruise in Annapolis through Pintail yatchs. They have a november wedding special right now that makes it affordable for us. You get a 4 hour cruise, sit down dinner, and beer and wine bar in the package.
We're going to be out on a farm, right up against the Blue Ridge Mountains =) The view is so pretty that I'm really, really hoping for a clear day!
We're getting married at a historic house (the Newton White Mansion). It's got a beaut-i-ful atrium that's just perfect.
We're getting married just outside of Princeton New Jersey, but had we gotten married in Northern VA, I totally would have done it at the Torpedo Factory! I hope we can post pictures after our weddings, b/c I'd love to see photos from there, it looks amazing. :)
We're getting married at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville! (Taking advantage of the discount for Rockville residents and getting married on a Sunday.)
My fiance and I had a blast looking for venues -- free tours of places we never would have seen otherwise!
We are getting married at Linganore Vineyards in Mount Airy Maryland!
Khar - another TFAC bride! I'd love to hear about your plans. And if you have any questions, feel free to PM me too.
I'm getting married at the Loews Annapolis Hotel... they have a beautiful atrium for the ceremony and cockatil hour and then the reception is int he grand ballroom. 5.5 months to go!
Getting married at the Gramercy Mansion right outside of Baltimore. It's a historic B&B. Wedding in the garden, reception in the Carriage House.
I like different. The Carriage House has a courtyard and there is no big ballroom type space. People are almost forced to mingle as the dining area and dance area are two separate rooms. It will definitely be different.
Can't wait...5 months and counting.
We're getting married at McLean Gardens Ballroom in Northwest DC, near the National Cathedral. We are absolutely in love with it--it's great for a small indoor wedding. At first we were worried about the exclusive caterer, but we did a tasting and their food was fantastic, so that turned out to be another vendor we didn't have to find.
We just got married (May 10th) at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. We originally planned to have the ceremony in the Fragrance Garden. The morning of the wedding, we were moved indoors to the Conservatory for weather and other reasons. It turned out to be the perfect location and I am happy about the change....all the benefits of being indoors while still having an outdoor feel!
I'm getting married in 2 weeks from tomorrow! We're having the ceremony and reception on a rooftop patio in downtown DC. It overlooks all the monuments - you can practically reach out and touch the Washington Monument! I think it's one of the best kept secrets for a wedding venue in DC - PM me if you'd like more information.
Brombesa, we're still looking for a venue, so you've got a PM. I'm dying to hear more about your rooftop secret! And congratulations on being almost there!!
Has anyone found out what this rooftop patio location is in downtown DC? I PMed brombesa, but have not heard from her? Any information would be great! Thanks :)
There are several places that I know of with a rooftop view

We sent our contract in today ... finally! We're getting married next September in the Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park. It is seriously the coolest place ever!
Hello all- my fiance and I live in northern VA but are having a DC wedding. (we are from northern Jersey originally) We are between the Decatur House and the Daughters of the American Revolution building...Im leaning towards DAR and we will hopefully have it all finalized this Friday when we meet to discuss details with them! Im soo excited to start planning! Hope to see lots of fun posts here on the DC boards!!
I'm doing the VisArts event room and Rockville Rooftop in Maryland. It's new, very modern and sleek. Can't wait!!!
My parent's live in columbia, so we're getting married at the Oakland Manor there!
We're getting married at the Hendry House in Arlington in October. :) We got a discount for being Arlington Residents, it's close to the metro, and it's super cute. We're keeping out fingers crossed for great weather so we can enjoy the outside/lawn area.
For any brides that live in DC but want a waterfront wedding (my DH and I met sailing, so we did!) the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club near Annapolis was great!
I've gotten so many comments from guests that my wedding was one of the best they'd ever been to and I think the beautiful location and excellent staff and food were a big part of that. Teresa was my coordinator.
We're getting married at Woodend Sancutary, which is the Audubon Society house in Chevy Chase, right off Beach Drive & East-West Highway.
We're getting married at ThorpeWood in Thurmont, MD. I don't consider myself a DC bride b/c we live in Frederick, MD, but our venue would work for a DC bride. LOL
We're having our reception at the Vis Arts Center in Rockville, MD. It has an art gallery/loft feel.
Wow, the Vis Arts Center looks gorgeous!! Is this by the library at the Rockville Town Center? I wish I knew about it back when I was planning my wedding. Where was this board 18 months ago?! Rockville Town Center is so convenient to where I was living. I could have walked!
Btw, I highly recommend Nail Tech on Hungerford Dr (right by the fire station) for nails. My mani/pedi lasted till the end of my honeymoon. I also used Ping Sun for makeup, she's in the Japanese snack shop next to Bob's 66. Everything is right next to the town center!
Oo thanks for the tip =) I'll have to look in that nail place. Yeah Vis Arts is right by the library. It's awesome when you go inside too =)
we're getting married at Prince Georges Ballroom in Landover,MD...it's beautiful!!!

We're getting married in the Sara Lee building!! ...it's part of the Double Tree, but it's not in the hotel...it's next to it. Once you get past the sara Lee signs...it's beautiful. :)
We had it at 2941 Reatuarant and we loved it! the food was so good and how can you go wrong with waterfalls and koi ponds?
Bluemont Vineyard! We're signing the contract today!
brookside gardens was my dream venue, but we decided to get married in my hometown instead. i also love meridian house, but that place does not come cheap!
I love seeing all these gorgeous venues - didn't know about some of these hidden gems!! I'm getting married at the Willard.
The Clarendon Ballroom has a rooftop patio and the place is HUGE for a wedding reception :) If we were getting married in the area, I would definitely look into it.

DC-area brides, share your venue. I love hearing about the places that people have chosen.
As for me, we're having the ceremony & reception at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA. We loved the fact that it was right on the water and that the space is non-traditional. This venue fee kinda blew out budget, but oh well, it'll be worth it. 1 more month to go!
