My budget has already died a death. It goes up every day. It was originally £6,000 for the whole lot, but that won’t happen! Current budget stands at:

£3,200 Three course wedding breakfast for 80+ people, tea and coffee, staff all night, cleaning up

£1,500 Wedding buffet for about 100+ evening guests, alcohol, and wedding cake. We are self catering the buffet and cake.

£1,200 Venue rental

£1,000 Bride’s wedding dress, reception dress, underwear, shoes, veil… the whole lot including garter and stockings, right down to the earrings etc.

£1,300 Wine and beer glasses, tablecloths, napkins, chair covers… all bought rather than rented. Bunting, centrepieces, flowers and all decor are also coming out of this budget, as are photobooth stuff and a guestbook and pen etc etc.

£600 Ceremony and legal expenses

£400 Bridesmaid’s outfits, and ties and hankies for ushers and the bridal party

£100 for the evening entertainment… seriously… if we can’t call in a favour for this, it will be ipod playlist time!

£550 photography and videography. I wanted a friend to do this, but it looks as if we will have to hire someone. I literally have sleepless nights about how we will afford all of this.

£75 Makeup and hair. I’ve bought in professional quality products, but there’s a lot to do… my hair needs dying and relaxing, for starters, and I’m doing all of that myself… as well as helping my BMs.

£100 invites, stationary, and postage costs… absolute max. I think they are a waste of money and I wanted to do evites, but I was talked down.

Fortunately, our hen and stag dos should be paid for by the bridal party. We cannot afford a honeymoon. At the moment we are stuck on wedding rings and a car… fairly obviously, we cannot afford much of either, so the rings might have to be second hand for now, and we might have to use my car. What I have above will cost around 10K. There is absolutely no way we can go over that without selling a kidney. I’m also now in a position where I will probably have to do my own dress alterations, which is a bit worrying, but I think I can do it.

Favours? Hells no… I’m not doing favours! I’m giving 100+ people a free bar! They should be happy! But in answer to your question, what is wrong with champagne and a croissant, if you are going for a French theme?

Whether you need to get special champagne glasses or not depends on what glassware you have available to you already. If you only have wine glasses, I would say you need at least some cheap champagne flutes. If you already have flutes, and are debating whether or not to get proper champagne glasses in addition, I wouldn’t bother, personally.

@nikix: I like the idea of the champagne and macaroons or the chocolate, seems very nice and if you only have 10 guests its not that expensive 🙂

My spreadsheet for a 200+ person wedding atm. My favors were not as estravagant though, I’m folding 1,000 paper cranes and people will get that and a small picture frame (where we send a photo to put in it in the thank you card) and they’re getting some Lebanese Chocolates that my FMIL is making/getting from her own pocket.

@nikix:  Champagne and macaroons sound good 🙂 Just regular flavour would be best as it’s propably most known ?

We had a budget of 15,000 but it looks like so far we will end up at 18,000. There is still tons though that we can save on so we will see.

For my favours I am making 8 oz soy scented candles in glass jars with lids. Comes out to 7$ per candle because of the decor on it and it will be nicely presented in a box. One candle per household though so 60 candles in total for 120 guests.

A 10 person wedding with your budget sounds fantastic- your guests will have so much fun!  I love the champagne and macaron favor.  If its too pricey, maybe just champagne for the favor and give out croissants the next morning for breakfast.

Oh, is that right that your e-ring was $47,000??  Post a picture!!!

You only have $3k to play with, and still need to purchase enclosure cards, plus whatever other extras come up.  I would go with just chocolates.  My feeling is that since the wedding is so small, its more of an intimate dinner party, and you can spend so much time with each guest, that favors aren’t necessary.
