At first I considered doing my own, especially after I looked at the websites of a few local MUA's and was not at all impressed. I felt like I'd end up hating it and having to redo everything. Then, thanks to weddingbee I found a MUA who seemed to go nice work so I booked a trial with her. It felt like a bit much with the fake lashes and was a bit different from my normal look, but when I went to visit with family later that night people couldn't stop staring and telling me how great I looked. Needless to say, I booked her the next day and was so happy with my decision!
I think the main advantages of a MUA are 1. you get to relax and breathe a bit before your walk down the aisle, 2. they use high quality products and techniques so the makeup holds really well, and 3. they can make you look like you but better. They also have a good grasp of how much to apply to look good for the cameras without it being too much in person. In my experience it was well worth the money and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
My everyday look:

My wedding day makeup:

Wow! Not that you don't look good in your "everyday" photo but you really came together nicely for your pro photos! I love how soft your hair and makeup look and how it goes perfectly with your dress and the flowers =]
beautiful!! btw, i named my business the same as your user name!! how cool is that?!
Thank you! I feel like my everyday look is too heavy on the eyeshadow, but whenever I try to just do eyeliner it looks horrible - probably because my hands are too unsteady.
You looked absolutely beautiful on your day (easy to do with an already beautiful lady)! More people should post these pics! :)
@amourtoujour: event design! it's freaky that i am calling you that to me lol!!! great minds think alike!!
Anyone else want to add their makeup pictures? Pleeeease? I know there are more married gals on WB with some great pictures and advice, so lets see it!
I went with a professional make up artist for my day of. I can do my make up good enough, but I really wanted my eyes to "pop" and to have that natural but looks like you have a glow to you look. It was a fantastic decision!
I did a test run with her for my engagement pics and everything turned out fabulous! One other bridesmaid used my make up girl the day of and we both got a LEAST 20 compliments each on our eyes and make up. I'd say go for it but make SURE they know what you want! Plus, it's one less thing to worry about the day of!
Lets see if I can attach some pics.....
Ok, I think I've got it! The first pic of me on a regular day and the second is with the professional make up

It seems like lately there have been a number of questions about whether or not to get professional makeup done. I thought it'd be nice for people to share their experience along with a few photos.
Did you get your makeup professionally done or did you DIY? Were you happy with the results? Would you change anything?
