So, in the past 7 weeks I've lost about 15 lbs. I still have another 27 to go and only 63 days left until my wedding! Even worse.. 45 until my dress fitting!

I'm horrible at calorie counting. I nibble.. a lot.. and I always *forget* to count those. And I feel like the more I try to lose weight, especially if I'm writing things down, I think about it way way more.. and then I just get hungry and gain!

Anyway, please share things that have helped you shed the pounds. Here's a few of mine:

*I am a huge hard candy fan, so I junked everything I had and replaced them with Smarties. For whatever reason, it hits the craving, and only 25 cals.

*I started bagging carrots, crackers, baked chips etc into small ziplock bags. I tend to go to the pantry and stare when I'm hungry until something looks good.. so having something easy to grab makes it a lot less tempting to go for anything else, and it's way better than grabbing the box!

*I replaced my dinners with Healthy Choice/Lean Cuisines. I usually cook for our family.. but me and portion control are not friends, and I tend to eat way more than my serving size that way. The fam is eating lots of sandwiches these days! :)

*I started drinking an 8 oz glass of water about 20 mins before my meals, to make sure I'm not just thirsty.. and to help me to not be so ravenously hungry that I'm stuffing my face so fast I don't know when I'm full.

*I stopped lighting all of my yummy candles. Mr. R pointed it out, and I don't know if it's helped.. but his comment was "No wonder you're craving sweets all the time, the house always smells like cupcakes and vanilla!". :)

*I think I have social anxiety, and I dread going to the gym. Plus, the gym here is so hipster, and it's a freaking meat market.. There's a whole lot of gym socializers. You know them, they stay for about 3 hrs and get about 30 mins of actual working out done bc they're wandering around chatting up every girl in the room. I feel like they're judging me! Anyway, I've started looking up at home workouts and I do calf raises while I'm doing my hair, or squats when I'm cleaning. I still need to suck it up and get in there to do cardio though.

*I stopped carrying cash. That way I can't be tempted to run to the vending machine!

I bolded mine, bc I'm way too wordy! Please share yours!!

Really excellent tips. I had to cut candy cold turkey for awhile because I am seriously addicted to Smarties. Once I eat one roll, I end up eating 8 more for the rest of the day. -_-

For a quick home workout, I really love Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It's only 20 minutes (with an additional 5 for warmup/cool down). :)

@thefuturemrsrowe - I bought an elliptical machine off of craigslist for $100 and use it at home to do my cardio.  I'm too cheap to go to a gym and I want the fan to be right on me and I can turn on the air conditioning if I am too hot at home.  We have it in the bedroom right next to the bed, I love watching movies while I do it and I can be doing a load of laundry at the same time.

I don't deprive myself of my favorites, but I do eat a lot less of them and in smaller portions.  I allow myself 1-2 unhealthy food items a day and it makes me feel less deprived.  I also feel like I am enjoying healthy eating more when I know I can still eat some of my favorites.

@ thefuturemrsrowe becareful with the Lean Cusine etc means because they have loads of salt and maybe sugar in them that then makes you retain water. I have recently gone Gluten Free for health reasons but have also lost lots of weigh because so many yummy things contain Gluten i.e Pastries, many chocolate bars, deep fried coatings. Plus GF bread tastes horrid so you don't want to eat it.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things but don't just rely on 'Low-Fat' foods because low-fat doesnt always mean low calorie, they just up the sugar content to make it taste ok. I have been caught out by that soooooo many times! I think I'm doing the right thing and then check the calorie content and it is huge!

My chemist lady also recommended uping my fibre because this *ahem* 'cleans' you out so I have 2 teaspoons of disolvable fibre in my OJ each morning.

Weight Watchers has been my saving grace.  Going to the meetings every week hold me accountable and keep me motivated.  If you do go this route, make sure you "shop around" and find a leader you love!

I'm no expert - i've lost and gained, and lost and gained, and i'm currently attempting to lose again.

Some things that have helped me:

    • track everything you stuff in your face - i use www.myfitnesspal.com
    • be active at LEAST 5 days a week and change it up so you don't get bored.
    • let your close friends and family know what you're doing
    • don't go buck and make huge changes all at once - make 1 small change, once a week (i.e. cut out pop one week....once you've mastered that, try taking the stairs the next week etc. etc....).  Doing too much at once, sets you up to fail.

I'm on a new weight loss kick - I'm 90 days out! I'm currently calorie counting like a mad woman using myfitnesspal.com. And I'm also trying to work out at least 30 minutes a day 4-5 days a week. I'm also trying to eat clean as much as possible. So that means no frozen foods, except for these organic burritos. I eat greek yogurt, frozen fruit, fresh fruit, frozen veggie, whole wheat bread, and dark chocolate for dessert.

@babybluz: No, we're not friends on myfitnesspal. Katelyn is actually a pseudonym, so I'm not comfortable friending people using my real name. Sorry!

Drink WATER, constantly. Just have a large jug of it with you wherever you go. If you're feeling like you want to eat something just to have that 'topped off' stomach feel that's satisfying, just chug all of the water. Its not as tasty as other things, but it works, in addition to watching the kinds of foods you it. If you're full of water at meal times, you won't be hungry.

Weight watcher's is an amazingly good diet plan. I love it, I try to just live my life around its ideas instead of being on a 'diet'. BLEGH. I went on a competitive diet at work a few months ago. Yeah,I lost 2 lbs and gained them back instantly out of spite for diets.

Last point: Get enough sleep. Its so important to how your body functions. I know with upcoming weddings stress makes sleep sometimes hard. Make time for it.

Find an excersize you enjoy and do it regularly - I walk and Zumba - either or both every day.

Audio Books (They are awesome) - I listen to books while I walk and because I want to continue "reading my book" I want to walk often. Check out iTunes - there are a surprising number of books there.

Have healthy snacks for when you are hungry - I keep dried fruit and bodywise bars on hand for after work, when I like to have something to chomp on. I also graze on this stuff on the weekend.

If you feel like grazing have something to drink instead - a coffee or a sugerfree drink for example, it will most of the time keep you feeling that you are satisfying the need.

I am vego too so I think that really helps.

I am a size 4, and the above isnt a diet its just the way I live, I dont not let myself eat things that I like - I munch on Chocolate throughout the week and have ice cream, but generally being healthy seems to work really well to stay a size I am happy at.

I joined a site called MyFoodDiary.com.  It has made a huge difference for me, because I have a place to log everything I eat.  I've lost 11 pounds in 7 weeks and I haven't had to give up anything other than the large portions.

Instead of trying to diet I have just try to change the way I eat. I know eat 8-10 fruit and veggie servings a dat (I snack on these instead of processed foods and have a salad with lunch and dinner). I drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. My fiance and I walk 2 miles a day (takes about 30 minutes with warm up) and then I come home do squats and crunches with the chair/ball, lunges, and use small hand weights to work my arms. All together I do a 45 minute workout 5x a week. We also try to go hiking every Sunday. Oh I have also switched to whole grain pasta, bread (rarely eat except for sandwiches sometimes), and pasta (I have small serving every night).

I actually finally found some weight loss success - an injury!! Go with me here :) I injured my shoulder quite badly last year and so I have had to have a trainer work with me to do my rehabilitation. As the shoulder is getting stronger I am able to do more and more, and he has taught me a bunch of new exercises that I have never done before. The change in routine has helped with a bit of weight loss.

I also eat my biggest meal of the day at lunch time so that it has time to burn off and I always pack the right things to eat during the day but if I am seriously craving something, I give in because its just a lot better for my mental health! :)

What I notice for myself is when i'm on a bad eating streak, I notice that i'm eating when i'm not even hungry, but for the sake of 'oh I should be eating right now'. I try not to eat huge meals but snack on healthy food throughout the day. That being said, try not to eat just for the sake of should be eating.

As far as exercise goes, I tried to get in as much as I could throughout the day. Take the stairs, park further from buildings, etc. I also recorded all of my favourite shows and I only allow myself to watch them while i'm working out.

FI and I plan 5 days worth of dinners. That way, we aren't coming home and going "oh huh, dinner...pizza?" It's nice to pre-plan, and do all the shopping in one trip. I read every food label. Watch out for sodium. (Seriously, I wanted instant brown rice today, and the 90 second bags had a plain one w/10mg of sodium, and the flavored one had 780mg. 780!!!). Drink water. and most important: Have faith in yourself! Good luck!
