    Hey all!

FI and I saw this online and we thought it would great for our nautical wedding. We don't have many young children in our family so we originally were not going to have a flower girl or ring bearer. But one of mybridesmaids had a beautiful daughter that I love to peices, so she will be out flower girl - but we were still short a ring bearer.

Here is a video of out shark ring bearer in action:::

    http://youtu.be/vIJINiK9azc

In my head, when the officiant asks for the rings - our shark will 'swim' up the isle to deliver them! We are keeeping it hushed from guests outside of our bridal party - so what do you think.... tacky/crazy/awesome? Keep in mind that sharks are definitly going to be included elsewhere - a shark card box that FI is building, and possibly shark teeth on the table around the flowers and candles.

Thanks all! We just need to work out details for it.

We need an operator and somewhere to hide it near the end of the isle so it's out of sight until the rings are needed.

Oh man.  If I went to a wedding that had this, my mind would be blown.  I'm pretty sure I would, like, HAVE to text people after the ceremony and tell them about it.  :)

this is laugh out loud funny. I'm sure this will be one of the highlights of your wedding. I think there's nothing tacky with having a bit of fun with your loved ones and friends on your special day - it will make it all the more memorable.

Oh man, I am so relieved to get such a good reaction for you. I was afraid people would thing I was making a circus out of the wedding, but I just think it would be a fun addition to the whole thing. :D

I think it's awesome. I wish you could have the music from the video to go along with it! It really sets the mood.

    I think it's really neat!

The one thing I will throw out there though is that if you're going to have small children, they may be frightened/scream. If your flower girl is the only wee one, make sure that she sees it beforehand and can touch it and operate it so she knows it's all pretend. I only bring this up because if I was a little kid and this came out of nowhere, it would terrify me.

@faith1583a: Actually my FI found it and send it to me. We both love sharks, and after I saw it I mentioned the idea of the shark being in our wedding party and he loved it!

@NYCcaliBRIDE: I actually thought of that! We haven't booked a DJ yet, but I think that will have to be discussed! :D  Or at least have the Jaws theme as our recessional music!

@MissHelen: That is a great idea!! We will actually have three very young kids there (under age 3, including our flower girl). We will have to practice with the shark during our rehersal so I'll make sure our flower girl gets 'pet the fake shark' time.

My brother had one of those and they are pretty funny. If it fits your theme, why not?!?

As a guest I would literally freak out - i am deathly terrified of sharks, I was hesitant to press the link, but did because I figured it wouldn't look very real...and I freaked and closed the window. So I would make sure none of your guests are going to be terrified and focusing on the shark throughout the whole wedding like I would be. As a child like your flower girls it would of had me in tears.
