i am incredibly impressed that you're doing this. i get tired just looking at the commercials. unfortunately i don't have any experience to share, but just wanted to say rock on!
I have it but haven't worked up the courage to do it. I think right now it would kill me.
Heh. It's pretty rough but not impossible. My FI did it with me yesterday (he's so cute. He won't even crank the level of his stationary bike to "5" because he has to "work up to it." He's been doing that bike for six months already! I think you're "up to it" darling!!) and he kind of sort of made it through. If you go slow and take lots of breaks, you can get through it. According to my heart monitor I burn about 700 calories with each workout though, so that's a plus. 700 calories in 40 minutes is pretty kick-ass. Minus: I'm ravenously hungry All The Time now.
@lezlers: Yeah I just have asthma problems so I'm always afraid of making it worse. Guess the hungry thing isn't too bad as long as you go for the good stuff and not a whole cake!
I did it...it is rough. The first week is the worst. I wouldn't try and go all out, you can't. You HAVE to take breaks. I've done P90X 2x before doing this and was still not prepared. I'm doing P90X again and then going back to Insanity right before the wedding.
@jenewitt: awesome! Did you get good results? Did you follow the meal guidelines? I'm trying to get through this cycle, then a month of p90x, then back to insanity before the wedding (if I make it) since P90x didn't do much for me at all (weight or inch wise).
I just started last week, its so hard. But I'm pretty out of shape lol. I think I did something to my hip or groin or something though cause it hurts every now and then. I did p90x with my FI and I was unimpressed with the results. I felt like it was geared towards men mostly, so I decided to try insanity.
@HoneyBear: I totally agree with you about P90x. I didn't lose one single inch (not even half an inch!) through two cycles of that program. Even doing the lean option didn't do anything for me. Granted, my arms are ripped, but you can't actually see that unless I flex, as I still have a layer of fat covering all that muscle. It was really frustrating for me: hence the Insanity. If this doesn't work, I don't think anything will.
Have you ever tried kettlebells? I did those about 6 months ago and they are a great fat burner. I lost like 13lbs in 3 weeks and I lost a lot of inches. You cant do them every day though, since they are so intense. It took me like 2 weeks to be able to get though the whole dvd. I would highly reccomend them, I used a 15lb kettlebell

I can't do kettleballs unfortunately. I have a bulging disc in my back and the number one thing I'm not supposed to do is lift heavy weights in a swinging action, like with the kettleball. Those workouts are like a "how to" in stuff I'm NOT supposed to do. :(
No one else on the whole Bee has done Insanity? Wow, I'm hardcore...
@lezlers: I loveee Insanity! It definitely kills me, but I feel awesome after the fact!! I'm having issues with the diet plan though -- I don't really have the time to plan/eat so many meals, which is frustrating. I'm on my second cycle (kinda slacked off after the first one, oops!)... keep it up!! :)
Yeah, I typically just record what I eat and try to keep my calories under 1800 (with insanity. Normally I keep it to under 1500) and my carb/protien/fat ratio in check. I could never follow those diet plans, they're meant for people that are personal trainers or people that otherwise have lots of free time to prepare meals.
Hey this insanity thing sounds kind of promising... it seems kind of expensive on their site for something that I may or may not use (I am awful at motivating myself). How long are the workouts? I just started the Shred, and I'm going to add an hour of cardio 3x week plus good eating habits... I just want to slim/tone up some, not loose a massive amount of weight or get totally scary ripped.
I did an older Shaun T workout, but couldn't stand it because they repeated his name in the background of all the music!! My friend and I were dying laughing and just couldn't get through it. Is it still the same way?
I am about 2/3 of the way through P90X and I have gained weight. I kept myself pretty thin before by doing 5 hours of cardio a week - I dont think p90X causes the calorie burn that did. I am definately more toned, and my abs are looking good, but all my clothes are tight and I dont like it. After this, I am thinking of doing an insanity/P90X hybrid. Insanity looks like it burns calories like I need to!
@AmyDee: sorry, I didn't realize there were more posts!! The workouts are all about 40 minutes (which is GREAT for me, since I workout in the mornings before work.) According to my heartrate monitor I burn an average of 600-800 calories in that 40 minutes so there is a LOT of bang for the buck. As for cost, my FI downloaded the videos from the internet, so it didn't cost anything. :)
@bpcmarj: I hadn't noticed that but I'll definitely be listening more intently tomorrow morning! I usually have the sound low, since FI is still sleeping when I do it. Of course, I woke him up this morning with all the jumping around. Woops.
@Ngolden1: that is EXACTLY what happened to me on P90x!! Gained weight and clothes fit me tighter. I was PISSED. I've lost a few pounds with insanity so far (and it's only week 2) so hopefully all the cardio will help with the weight loss. 5 hours of cardio a week? Seriously? You're an animal!
@lezlers: Ooh ok 40 minutes sounds very do-able... and heyyyy you cheated (by getting them online)!! Did he get them in some legit way that I could possibly copy?
@lezlers:I have not done it but my BF went to college with Shaun T and wow, it looks insane. He said he's a tough one. I can't imagine doing it. I have P90x...and granted...don't do it the way I should....butttt yet.
@AmyDee: I bought mine brand new on eBay for 1/2 the price.. check there :)

Alright ladies, who else is doing this workout program? I did day two today and am DYING. I just did two cycles of P90x so I'm no weakling but Insanity is...well...INSANE! I don't know if I can make it through 63 days of this. Is anyone else on here doing it? Has anyone completed it? What were your experiences? Some success stories would be OUTSTANDING to hear!
