As DH and I have been learning to live together since the wedding (and it has been awesome!), so have our pets...

Shedding!! : wedding dogs shedding grooming DSCN0134

Meet our "kids", Millie (beagle) and Ajax (?).

While they are not passionately in love, they are getting along pretty well - mainly because Ajax is so patient.  Our biggest problem is shedding!  I have had dogs my whole life, but I have never seen them shed as much as these two do!  I literally sweep the hard wood floors everyday and pull up a hairball the size of a bunny!

Any tips?  We are brushing them every couple of days and bathing them every 2 weeks.

    Your 'kids' are adorable!!

My dog is a shedding monster, so you have my sympathy! We recently got a furminator brush for her and the amount of hair that comes out when we use it is phenomenal, I would definitely recommend getting one!

We have a german shepherd that sheds like crazy so I know just how you feel! I just bought from Petsmart the brush called the Furminator and even though it is expensive (mine was $50) it was SO worth it. Instead of vacuuming the house up to 3 times a week I now get away with just doing it once. The amount of hair this brush pulls out is insane, it works a million times better than any other kind we've ever bought.

That definitely sounds worth 50 bucks just for my sanity! Thanks!

I just wanted to also recommend the Furminator that the other PPs have mentioned.  They're awesome for shedding!

I'll second the furminator and for the people who have long haired dogs I'd recommend the dyson grooming adapter. It's a brush that attaches to the vacuum hose so the vaccuum sucks up the hair as you brush. It's amazing, we use it on our long haired dogs and it vaccums the dirt/oil/etc out of their fur as well so they stay cleaner longer. They're sharp bristles though so I'm pretty sure they're for medium-long haired dogs only.

I'm on the "Furminator" band wagon with this one, too!!  We have a malamute who blows his coat twice a year, and the Furminator has been such a help!  We get Chihuahua-sized balls of fluff off of him at least once a day...and probably 7 or 8 of those fluff balls when it is coat-blowing season.  He is an indoor dog, as well...so we got the Dyson Animal.  I now LOVE to vacuum!  It is wonderful!!!
