I like the avant garde feel of the dress with the sheer bodice, but don’t want to shock anyone at my wedding. Almost all of my friends love the dress as is, but one thought it might be a bit much with the sheer bodice. Thoughts?

For me, I would have it lined. I just don’t like the look of those types of dresses (I feel like they look more like lingerie). But, have at it if it works for you!

Yes, please line it. Remember that your grandparents ect. will see you in the dress.
ETA: But if you like how bold the lace is you can try a champagne/gold/nude lining instead of white/ivory.

To me, it looks like lingerie, or the two-piece prom dresses they had when I was in high school. It’s a beautiful dress, but if it was mine, I’d definitely line it. All depends on your crowd, though.

@ajwebb: I think I saw that dress. If it were ME, I’d add something so it’s not sheer. To me it looks like a corset/lingerie top, especially with the boning and lace. I’m pretty sure my whole family would be like x_X; even if my friends were like XD haha. I’d be too afraid everyone would think it was inappropriate for a formal event/wedding gown =

Please line it. With it sheer like that, it looks exactly like the corset I had chosen to wear under my dress. :

Thanks all! I was thinking of a semi-sheer situation something more like this – where you don’t totally lose the effect but it is significantly less revealing

I’d line it with a nude fabric, that way you still get the feel of the sheer bodice but you’re covered. Gorgeous dress, and you look stunning it in!

I think it’s too sheer. It would look so much more elegant 🙂

I would line the dress. You could pick a pale pink or champagne to make the lace pop a bit.

Line it, it looks like you have a corset tucked into a very elegant skirt, it looks like two pieces. It would look more elegant and classic lined.

The semi-sheer pic you posted looks really nice!

@Christy42213: Thanks! I’m sure a few people will still hate it with the more muted effect (wedding is kid-free and sadly all of our grandparents have passed, so it won’t be the usual suspects) but I’ll be comfortable in it in a way I’m not quite comfortable with the sheer.

I’m not a fan of the exposed boning, but I think it’s plenty covered. If you want to line it, go for it, but I think it’s more than appropriate as-is.

Gorgeous dress! You look great.
I would line it though. So much classier.
