Here is a link for you, I plan on buying some of this and using it in our venue to make curtain-like drapes out of. I haven’t purchased anything from the site before, but I have a friend who swears by their ribbons and prices.

We bought some fabric from Hobby Lobby.  We caught it on sale and ordered around 50 yards.  Because they didn’t have it stock, they ordered it for us at the sale price.  (We’ve had them do this for us before on other wedding items, and they are great about it.)  If you have one in your area, I highly recommend them.  They run sales on something everyweek (usually 30-50% off), and typically we get a coupon for 40% off regularly priced items in the Sunday paper.

I would check stumpsprom.com. They offer huge bolts of fabric for relatively good prices. We used to order tulle and gossamer from the site all the time when I was back on the prom planning committee in high school.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Our venue has a beautiful ballroom with wonderful views, but the only drawback are this kind of dated floral drapes, which I do not like at all. I feel bad offending our contacts at the venue- is that weird? but ideally I would like to get some brown fabric to drape over the drapes! we will have fall colors, so the brown would fit but would not be too bright, which is want i think would work best. Who actually does the hanging? The venue or do we hire somone? I am not sure my friends are crafty enough to make it look perfect, and i def. won’t be around morning of t hang drapes. thoughts?

I am also concerned about how something like gossamer will look on the walls or if I should bust the budget and go for fabric.

you can buy bolts of tulle if that is what you are looking for. I really like Ryco outlet for ribbon and tulle. They have lots of colors and sell tulle by the bolt and by the roll. http://www.rycotrim.com/ I found their tulle prices beat JoAnne and Michaels. They also ship anywhere if you are interested, call and tell them what you are looking for the owner runs the place and all of the employees are crafty women who will surely make a gfood recommendation. I bought me veil tulle here and also all the ribbon for the wedding and even when I needed 50 yds. of ribbon for programs and a full roll was 100 yds, she cut and packaged it so it didn’t get tangled.
