- Wedding: May 2012
Fiance and I are geting married in May and have been looking at home buying. We would want to move by the end of August (when our current lease runs out) or wait another year. We’ve been looking at what’s available online since January or so and with our broker for six weeks.
We’ve been going out with our borker every other weekend, looking at what’s available, debating pros and cons. We have a long list of wants that combine to be a pretty rare package for our area, which is an expensive one as metro areas go. We knew we were looking for something out of the ordinary, so we started early, but we weren’t planning on getting serious for another month or anxious for another two.
A house came on the market this weekend that our agent sent us with a “this looks interesting for you guys” note. We agreed and went and looked at it, and it already had another offer on it.
But it met almost every one of our desires. It exeeded several of them. It has features we didn’t even write down because we didn’t think it would be possible to get a house with them. (full wet bar in the basement for my Fiance, fully cedarlined storage closet for me and my knitting.)
Suddenly we were in a bidding situation and looking at possible closing dates. The seller asked to move the promise date sooner, we asked to move the closing date out (to better match our lease end, limit the months of paying rent and a mortgage, and not close the day after our honeymoon) and…
We have an accepted offer with a compressed timetable for inspection and downpayment.
I’m excited and freaked out and I feel like I’m running on aderenaline. When should I start getting my hopes up? What do we do after we get the inspection report?
