I had never heard of boudoir photography until I started googling wedding things like a crazy person (you know, the point after you get engaged when all you think about is wedding, Wedding, WEDDING! Who needs to finish the budget at work when you can google Photographers! Cupcakes! WEDDING DRESS! Oy). Anywho, as I perused all things wedding on the internet I stumbled across this rather fantastic type of photography. I was thrilled! What better wedding present for FI than this? Not only is it something I'll be able to look at when I'm 90 and say "see? I used to be foot-loose and wrinkle free" but he can take it with him when he deploys. After a quick search I found a photographer in the area who did boudoir photo shoots, Andrea Casey. She is WONDERFUL and I would highly recommend her to anyone who lives in the central/upstate NY area. It was a whole day just about me feeling beautiful and sexy, just for FI. I had a spa day in the morning--hair, makeup, mani/pedi, and then off to the hotel. I had about 10 outfits, including shoes, and was READY TO GO.
When Andrea arrived she immediately put me at ease and got straight to work. We took hundreds of photographs and I truly had a great time. I felt like a model! The hardest part of the whole process has been waiting to give it to Mr. Librarian. I've had the album for over a month and the temptation has been great (although MUCH easier now that he is away training, I can't give it to him if he's not here). I can't wait for him to open this gift after the rehearsal dinner. I can just imagine the look on his face: first total shock and disbelief (conservative lil ol' me did this?!), followed by an impossibly big smile. If you've been on the fence about doing a boudoir photography session I would tell you to absolutely do it! So worth every penny. And check out Andrea at www.andreacaseyphotography.com
Very sexy! Your pictures look great! I can't wait to get mine done too. Your hubby is going to love them.
You know, I have been thinking about this more and more. I think my FI would love it, but I am afraid of the cost. Did you go out and buy all those outfits? I don't just have stuff laying around that I could wear. And just the cost of the shoot itself, its kind of holding me back. But your pictures came out amazing!
I live in the Finger Lakes, I wonder if I should call her and just see what she has to say!
Oh I so agree with the somehting to look at while he deploys, that is a lot of the reason I want to do mine. I am actually planning on sending mine to him in Afghanistan, since he has been there since March.
My FI would love this, becuase I am gone a lot for work.
@mskalinin - we have the same wedding date and we're both in the Finger Lakes! Im in Skaneateles (well not any more, I grew up there, parents are still there). Sweet
And @ Miss Librarian - WOWWWWZA! those pics are BEAUTIFUL! FI is going to die when he sees them!
OMG your pictures are gorgeous!! If I had that body I would do this pics too!!!
Woohoo!
Cost of outfits isn't so bad--just buy what's on sale. You can't tell expensive lingerie from cheap lingerie in photos, anyways!
Trust me...cute undies goes a long way. I ended up with my "fourth outfit" by tossing the bra aside and using tulle and my hands and other drapey fabrics my photographer had lying around to cover me up.
You ladies are so sweet! Thank you for all the kind words
I have to say I love them! I've never done anything like it before. I hope he reacts like you guys haha!
And, mskalinin, it is a tad expensive. I budgeted and saved for it. But, it really is worth it in my opinion! Your hubby will have them forever! Absolutely give Andrea a call, I'm pretty sure she does work in Skaneateles and the finger lakes. Tell her I said hi!
These are amazing! You look great..almost makes me NOT want to do it after seeing your amazing figure!
@mskalinin: I found a girl in San Diego that will do the pics for about 375, an extra 110 for makeup, though. Shop around in your area! (B/c another company wanted to charge me about 1000+ for them)
Miss Librarian, very sexy!! Your eyes are to die for! :)
There was a wee bit of photo shopping/enhancing on them. My eyes are green but not quite that bright! All in, including the photo shoot, hotel room, and the album I spent about $600-650ish.
Rachelandviktor, you should do it! You only live once and your future hubby will love them :)
Honeybee, I think he would love if you sent them! I feel your pain my dear, it isn't easy. How much longer does he have over there?
wow! those are awesome. your guy is going to go crazy when he sees them!
those are so sexy and gorgeous! you guy will love them!! such a fun gift and surprise for him!!
WOW...love it! Sexy mama...your FH will appreciate it! You're making me think about it now too, I know my FI would love it!
Those are suuuuch a good idea :) you look amazing
I want to try to find someone around me who can do those!!
Miss Librarian, you look amazing! What a great present.
Question -- you said you are usually pretty conservative. What was it like doing something so unlike you....intimidating or liberating?
Wow those are great! I thought of doing something like this but don't know 1. if I could keep it a secret 2. if I have the nerve to actually do this! Maybe I'll consider it a little further after hearing that you were at such ease! AMAZING Pics!! He is going to be so excited to get these!
All I can say besides HOT is how tasteful these are! I especially love the black and white one of you laying down.
This is definitely something I want to do for our first anniversary (if I can afford it!) I've been collecting inspiration photos, which is a tiny bit creepy, but that's ok!
My photographer just advertised an all boudoir shoot for next month. I definately want to do one for my FI, but I think I'll wait until she runs another special closer to the wedding, that way I might be a little closer to my wedding weight!
Gorgeous photos. I love the long line bra shot. Super hot!
Holy crap those are awesome! I second the others, I want to look like that :) Good for you though! I definitely think your FH will love them.
I am a plus size bride and I had my boudoir pictures taken this weekend. I got a steal by using a new photographer that is building her portfolio and splitting the cost of the hotel with my MOH (she is giving her husband an anniversary present).
You can head over to my blog to see a little sneak peak and I will be posting a few more as well.
I was a little unsure about the whole thing but all of you ladies have made me feel so happy and confident with these pics! I'm so happy I decided to join the hive! Thank you so so much, really. I really can't wait to give it to FI now, even more than before.
Miss Gemstone, it was 100% liberating! I've always wanted to push my limits and be a little wild but I never really had the guts. Mr. Librarian inspires me every day to do things I never thought I could/would, and well, he will certainly be surprised by how much I've taken it all to heart :) The trick (for me at least) was to own it. If you decide to do it, have faith in yourself, know you're beautiful inside and out, and HAVE FUN!
On a side note ladies, make sure the photographer is legit and has references/blog/something! Even though you are wearing lingerie, you are very exposed and you don't want just anyone having access to these kind of pics. After 2 minutes on the phone, I knew Andrea was totally professional and had a lot of experience. Just want all of my fellow bee's to be safe :)
