Just dropping by to say I used the shimmer paper on our STD's and it looked great! However, I printed stuff on non-shimmer paper because I didnt know if I could print well on the shimmer, for some reason I remember someone saying it didnt work well. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts as well because I would like to print invites on shimmer.
I just test printed some invites recently on shimmer paper and I wasn't happy with how it looked (it was a very graphic invite though). I thought the text didn't pop enough from the paper, it sort of just blended in. I did end up using a shimmer envelope though and it looked fantastic. So I'd go matte invite, shimmer mat, shimmer envelope.
I used parchment for the printed part. Shimmer for the folder. Regular matte envelopes to put it all in. We are also using hte same paper for the programs. The table numbers, escort cards, all other paper products are using the parchment paper as well.
I used a matte paper for the invitation, stardream for the backer and stardream for the pocketfold. I used an envelope that matched the matte invitation paper, but for the RSVP I used a stardream envelope that matched the backer.

When I got home today my cards and pockets samples were in the mail!!
I'm doing the actual invite in one of the whites, then putting that on a either light or dark purple invitation mat and using the purple shade not used for the mat as the envelope color.
I don't know if I should go all matte or all shimmer on the invites or mix it up using matte invites & envelopes with a shimmer mat or shimmer invites & envelopes but matte backer or etc etc etc...
For those of you using/used cards & pockets for your DIY Invites ....
Did you choose matte or shimmer paper? And how did you organize it?
