You would have to come in contact with his open blisters to have much chance of contracting them. He should not be at work until they are healed over. We had a shingles outbreak at work (I had 2 coworkers have it at the same time), even though they say you can’t get shingles from shingles. I work at a hospital so this was a pretty big deal.

Have you had the chicken pox vaccine?

Oh, no!  If you haven’t had chickenpocks as a child I would suggest going to a doctor and letting them know, I’ve heard it is a lot worse and dangerous as an adult…  (and they have a vaccine now, not sure if it’s for adults though)

You could get CP from anyone. The incubation period is the most contagious, which is when the spots aren’t even visible. I hope you don’t get sick though!

Definately contact your doctor to get the vaccine, as long as you aren’t pregnant you can get it at any time. Take matters like this into your own hands, you never know who is walking around with shingles or chicken pox.

I wouldn’t be too worried about getting it from him, but I would make an appointment with your primary care provider to get the vaccine! CP as an adult is way worse than as a kid

I never had them as a kid and got vaccinated in 1999 and again in 2010. I had my titers drawn for immunity (it’s just a blood test) a month ago and I’m still immune. Go get that vaccine!

I work primarily with the elderly, so it’s very important to me to be vaccinated against all that stuff.
