@Jon.Sara7: Wow, good info for other brides in your area. Both venues we visited, we were there for probably a good hour on our initial visit - of course they wanted us to book, but nothing like the pressure you were getting. Both coordinators were very kind and willing to answer all our questions.
I also believe after our first phone calls and after our meetings, we were 'penciled in' for that date, which meant they would notify us if someone else wanted it. So we basically got first pick. We also booked waaaay in advance - booked in September of '09 for our wedding next weekend.
Pretty sure what you experienced would not (and should not!) be the norm.
@hisgoosiegirl: This has not been the norm experience for us at other venues. We have spent 45-60 minutes at other locations. I thought that after out initial phone call we would have been penciled in too, guess not. Again, the whole thing was very disappointing but we are moving on to a venue that will fit our needs more completely!
We are having our wedding at Elements and I have never experienced anything like that. That sucks that you had that experience though.
I am super excited about the venue though :)

My fiancée and I had a meeting with the Elements Conference and Event Center this week. I could not ignore our experience and wanted to share with other potential brides. We have been looking at many reception venues in the Cincinnati area and Elements made it onto our short list. I am sorry to say that our experience was NOTHING like we expected.
We were invited into the office and had a seat. After a very brief discussion with Nidhi about what we were looking for, a photo album was presented and we began to look through it. We felt very rushed as her cell phone rang continuously and she spoke very quickly.
She invited us to join her on a walk-through of the facility. We walked into the actual venue space and, again, we felt very rushed. She began pointing at things and speaking so quickly we could hardly keep up. We did not feel like we could take the time to look around and ask questions.
After our rushed walk through, we walked back to her office. We were asked which package we would be picking. I tried asking a couple of questions but felt pressured to pick a package before we could move forward. When I initially scheduled the meeting I informed them of our preferred date. After I reiterated our chosen date Nidhi informed us that our date had been booked the previous day. After she found out that the date was not available to us we were rushed out the door with very little interest or caring.
I understand that a venue can not be expected to hold a date for a couple that is just doing research but, could they not have informed me that the date was booked before we took the time to go to the meeting? A simple phone call or email would have avoided this problem all together and save all of our wasted time.
Early in the meeting Nidhi mentioned that after work she would be leaving to go to the Reds game, I can not be sure if this is the reason for her rushed manner and lack of attentiveness to us. I would hope that the game was not more important to her than our time, but that is how it felt. She definitely gave the impression that the baseball game was more important to her than our special day.
My fiancée and I were both shocked at the lack of time given to us, from the moment that we were greeted to the time we left totaled 8 minutes, surely not enough time to have a meeting about booking our wedding reception. I would hope that our experience is not the norm, if it is I am not sure how a place like this can stay in business.
