We are having engagement photos taken this summer. We’re not sure exactly where they will be done except that they’ll be in our neighborhood with some by the lake, and some in cute shops/our favorite places. I know that I want to buy a new dress, and then I figure I’ll do a slightly more casual outfit as well. I don’t have a dress picked out yet.
So, the dilemma: I originally ordered a gorgeous pair of semi-formal red Louboutins on the Outnet way, way on sale. Turns out they were also way, way popular and sold out after I paid – they refunded my money but no shoes.
I’ve been Ebaying and consignment shopping since then, but nothing’s caught my eye until this week when these two pairs showed up. They’re similarly priced, but have totally different feels to them. They’ll change the direction of my outfit no matter what, and I think either would work… but I’m torn!
… or should I go for something completely different?
By the way, I promise I adore other brands of shoes as well… but for whatever reason, none of them have been cropping up as samples or on Ebay from reputable sellers in my size. I hate being a size no one wears!

I love them both, but I especially love the red ones. That being said though, if I were you, I would wait until I found my outfit before I purchased the shoes.

I vote for shoe number one and here is why:
1) You are a student (like me!) and will probably get more wear out of the slightly more casual red shoe. I know those shoes aren’t cheap, even on Ebay, so re-wearability is key!
2) You can dress them up or down. The black satin shoes will be much harder to dress down. Especially important since you don’t know the exact details of your shoot yet.
3) Red shoes are insanely hot!

For engagement pictures, I like the red ones. They seem more fun and can be more casual.

I’d go for the red ones 😉

I’m biased…I pick shoe #2!
But, the other bees are right. It’s easier to re-wear shoe #1 rather than shoe 2 (but you could re-wear shoe#2 for other dress-up occassions.) Either choice you won’t go wrong.
However, I would decide my outfit first before deciding shoes. I recently had my engagement session and even though, I had dress issues and not shoes issues. A dress is easy to exchange at a dept. store and a pair of loubys are not as quite!
Good Luck! 🙂
P.S., I love your love of loubys!!!

Those heels look INSANE! I could never walk in them, haha! But I voted for #1 – I love a good red shoe!

I own the black Bow Ts. They are pretty comfortable out of the box, which is nice. However, there are times when I’d like to wear them and remember oh, yeah, satin, and don’t. I do wear them to about every other nice-ish event I go to, though. They look better in person than in pictures because in person you see all of the small details.
I personally hate slingbacks, though. I don’t like the way they look, they rub my heel on the sides and don’t provide enough support for me for the 5 inch heel. I’m also not a fan of cork.
What’s your shoe size? I saw these pop up this morning. They’re a good price for such a good condition (remember Bing Cashback and get 8% off Buy It Now).

@chicagobride092010: I’m a 5.5 in heels/most designer shoes (I tend to wear a 5 in some brands/flats), which is why it’s so hard to find good shoes in my size! Thanks for posting that, though. 🙂
I ended up not going with either – they’re both really cute, but neither felt perfect.
As for finding an outfit… I sometimes like to start from the shoes up. Maybe because I worked at a shoe store? Haha.
