I need shoe help!
My dress is David’s Bridal VW9340 in ivory. I love it, but I’m having the hardest time finding shoes for it. I thought I had found my shoes in a pair of black leather peep toe pumps, but I realize they’re too harsh with my dress.
Here’s what I need to consider:
- I must be able to wear them again. I won’t spend money on shoes I’ll only wear once. (i.e. bridal shoes that only work with a wedding dress)
- The heel height needs to be around 3″ OR flat (I’ll hem the dress then).
- My ceremony and reception is taking place at a rustic lakeside resort at the end of August, so I’ll be on wood board decks and grass the whole day. I’m not sure if heels are a good idea…
I’ve found so many shoes that I like, but not with my dress. The tips of the shoes will show quite often because of the sheath style and the lace precludes shoes with a lot going on.
A flat light colored sandal would be worn after my wedding, but a heeled one wouldn’t be. I love pink and purple, but I don’t know if those colors would work with my soft dress or if I’d really wear them much after the fact.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Especially any that come with photos of shoes worn with lace and/or sheath dresses!

I love your dress! I’m in a similar situation, I want to be able to wear them again, have to be able to walk on grass, and can’t be too high-heeled since I wear flats almost every day! I will probably end up with a wedge or kitten heels for earlier and probably flats for later on. And I think you’re right, I would keep the shoe kind of less complicated to not compete with the lace. Here are my suggestions:
Anne Klein Pinchins
These next three are from J Crew and come in other colors. I like how the wedge is the same color on the wedge part since most wedges seem to come wtih just a wooden style heel. Also, no prob sinking into the grass with a wedge!
I would just make sure I had a perfect pedicure of course!
