So this is my first post, thanks so much for all the wonderful information here!! I have my dress, and I will be getting married in Savannah on May 28th. My dress is champagne/ivory oleg cassini, lace, etc.
I purchased the RSVP peony shoes in ivory, which look good with the dress, however my favorite color is green, and my new last name will be…GREEN! So i was thinking of going with some fun green heels like the nina electra in apple green.
I’m not sure though if my dress can handle colorful shoes, so i’m tempted to do the matchy thing, but I think the green shoes would be wonderful for photographs!
Dress below as well! Don’t pay attention to my crazy hair it was pouring rain!!

First, welcome to weddingbee! Second, your dress is beautiful!
If it were me, I would stick with ivory. Your dress is very detailed, and I think green shoes would overwhelm it a little. BUT, whatever you decide will look beautiful!

I would go for the green. The shoes will only be seen when you want them to be, but they will make you smile all the time.

I would go for the green in a heartbeat!! They are so pretty and a beautiful color

I love the idea of the green shoes and love it even more since that will be your last name!!
I think it will look good with your dress because although it is lace it flares out a bit at the bottom and seems fun with the ruffles. I can’t see the detailing too well on the top but from what I can see I think it will look good!

Thanks for the replies! Yes I was afraid the green would overwhelm like stated, but I love the artsy photos with colored shoes! Maybe I should get the green just for photos but wear the ivory for the ceremony!
Plus, I love wearing green so I know I could wear cute sundresses with the green later on whereas I doubt i’ll wear the ivory again!
Anyone else buy shoes just for photos or am I crazy?

GREEN GREEN GREEN!! I feel like since ppl don’t really see the shoes very much, it’s a cute little semi-hidden thing 🙂

Thanks for the comments on my dress! I went looking for a plainer dress that I could pair with a chunky necklace and cute heels and ending up falling in love with something completely different. Plus I have olive skin and get naturally tan in the summer, and most of the white dresses just looked cheap on me, while the other girls in the store were rockin them!
The upper part of the dress does have some detailing, it has the smaller ruffles with tiny pearls, no sequins or anything flashy though and lace overlay, no big appliques.

I think I’m going to buy the green and take them both this weekend when I pick up my dress and go from there, let it be a last minute decision of sorts, plus I can order them from Zappo’s and always return them!
Great advice ladies! I look forward to lots more good advice! We changed our wedding location, and I wanted something small which has turned into something much bigger, and with my work schedule I’m super overwhelmed with all this planning and most of my friends live pretty far away, or are single and not interested in wedding stuff!

Congratulations, and welcome!! We got married in Savannah last month and loved it!
I think your dress can totally handle the green shoes. I think when you are thinking about doing something non-traditional like wearing green shoes, if you don’t do it, you’ll regret it; and if you do do it, you’ll look back and think it was so fun.
The other thing you could do is wear the ivory shoes for your ceremony and then the green shoes for your reception.
I wore pink shoes, so I am a little partial to colored shoes. I know in my case, my shoes didn’t show hardly at all. In fact, they don’t show in hardly any of our photos, and I think they only showed once on our video.

I’m a little late on the response here, but I love the green!! I love the idea of colored shoes under your dress. Gives you a little bit of extra fun that most people won’t even know about.

honestly… dresses are long. few see the shoes. Some see glimpses. Only the bride really cares. Wear what you want.

Definitely do the green shoes–adds a pop of color and fun to your outfit!
