Is there a lock down process you can do? I work at a hotel and we have that. All the local hotels in town will call eachother if there was a robbery or shooting and we all do a lock down where no one can come in or out until the threats are over.

Hang in there you’ll be getting off work soon and on your way home feeling much better.

Stay safe. Keeping you in my thoughts and hoping for the best outcome from this situation.

Just need to vent – I’m so fucking sick of this shit – it’s just too freaking much.

If they are coming into the hospital with gunshot wounds I doubt they will attack the staff who would be the only ones to help them. It is not impossible, but I feel it is unlikely.

Just be prepared to have a plan….delegate someone to call 911 after the suspects are brought into exam rooms, or have security focus on the entrances of the hospital.

@pinkgreenandyellow:  Just curious, is it actually legal for the hotel to lock down so that no one can LEAVE? I understand preventing people from coming in, but if people want to leave that is their own choice, and I can see that causing issues for the hotel. Personally, if something like this were to happen near a hotel I am in, I would NOT want to leave my room, but I’m not too fond of the idea of being told I am not ALLOWED to leave by the hotel staff.

from CT here, and don’t worry!  You definitely aren’t detracting!  We’ve had our fair share of the spot light the past couple of years and we are more than happy to share it!

The first thing I thought when I saw your post was “Copy-cat shootings!”

It is a major concern.  A friend of the family who is 30 years a police officer told us he recommends we start carrying for the next few weeks (legally with a permit of course).

Regardless of you feelings on gun control, that’s pretty scary to hear from a law enforcement officer.

I hope you’re safe!

@wbg21:  Well where we are we lock down until the threat is over. Typically the police will inform us when the threat is over. The reason we do this is that around here when there is one hotel robbery for some reason they go on a spree and rob all of the hotels within 2 miles of eachother in the same time frame so we have to lock down incase they are trying to get into the hotel or could be in the parking lot or lurking around a corner somewhere. It doesn’t last too long normally and once the cops come to patrol we can open the doors.

Luckily though our hotel seems to be the only one in town that has not been robbed yet. Which worries me that it’s just around the corner and I work the night shifts.
