I had BMs all over the country, and I just had everyone measured and ordered the dresses. Honestly, you don't NEED to get measured at a store. My mom measured my sister by following some instructions online, and the fit of her dress was perfect.
If you're both okay with her NOT trying on dresses, then do it that way. However, if she wants to be more involved, she'll probably have to plan a trip. The only compromise I can think of would be to have her go to that one salon in her area, get an idea of what styles work for her (tell the salon owners in the end that she didn't find anything she liked, of course), and what styles absolutely don't work for her, and then have her pick out some styles of designers online that are available in your area. You can then go look at swatches to confirm the color is right, and then order her dress based on her measurements.
you don't need to get measured at a store - just have someone be precise in the mreasuring though.. and make sure she knows a good tailor for alterations.
given how she's tiny but tall, does she know what styles work best for her body shape? else maybe she can pick a dress from ann taylor.com or something that offers free shipping - that way she can try it and exchange it for another size / style if it doesn't work? i'm not sure if DB offers this but if it does, great!
One of our little in our sorority will probably end up measuring her... I am not really picky about the dress.. It just needs to be black, that is the only requirement. And honestly... she looks good it just about everything... Her body is very well proportioned, she just doesnt wear a lot of dresses... We will probably set up shopping dates online once she is stateside and go from there... And she is good at that.. she is an online shopping addict since she cant get to the mall...lol
Thanks for the measuring at home tip... I totally forgot about being able to do that..

So my one and only BM lives in England all summer with her family. She will be back in the states in a couple/few weeks, but her school is 6 hours from mine so we dont see each other that often. We have been looking for her dress, but we dont really know what size to get her.. she is TINY, but tall. Her school is in a little town with only one bridal shop that is super overpriced. There is also a pennys, but that is it.
So for my question. How should we go about this. I am letting her pick her dress out, it just has to be in black. Do you think the bridal shop there will measure her and let her take them so we can order from DB here, then I would send her the dress and we can go from there... or would it just be better to plan a trip...
