I've been searching online for a while now for a wedding dress, and i'm curious to see what styles you short brides have picked out. I'm very petite, only 5'1" and i don't want a huge puffy dress that will swallow me up. so lets see 'em!
I'm 5'0" and I tried on many different styles of wedding gowns. I ended up choosing this one (it hasn't been altered yet) and I love it!!! Good luck finding your dress!
I am also 5' below is a pic of me in my dress, I look much taller because I am standing on a block so I could see the dress w/out it being bunched at the bottom, lol
As a 5'3" (on good days ;) ) bride I love seeing real (short) brides in their gowns, ya'll have gorgeous dresses :)
@Lakebcrew: what is the name of this dress? Its absolutely beautiful.. unfortunetly im plus size so prob dont make in my size.. but at least i can find the maker
you all look tall in your dresses! seriously, i could have never guessed you were all only a little over 5 feet tall!!
i'm 5'0 and here is me in mine (and heels)...not the best pic but you get the idea.
I'm 5'2-this dress was perfect! Horray for drunk bathroom pics! I don't know why that weird dot is there-it isn't part of my dress. lol.
I am also having trouble finding the right dress for me. Thank you for posting ur pics because I am 5'2 and it helps me to visualize what the dress would look like on my petite frame:) Please keep posting.
@pamplemousse: Seriously I was going to say the same thing! I think everyone looks tall in the pics!
I am 5' 1 1/2".
I will be wearing this dress with this crinoline.
I will be wearing 4" heels with it.
4'9" here....Here's pics of my Maggie from my 2nd fitting today :)
Pardon the pins on the bodice-has to be taken in again for the 2nd time....
I'm only 4'11" I think I have you all beat! I am wearing 4 inch heels though in this pic. Ordering a petite length though they said the length should be almost perfect, maybe no alterations.
@soon2beMrsGP: Ooh nevermind, you're the winner :D Rock that maggie!
@arenyth: Yeah I'm the winner all right...Yay me......You look great in yours! Petite length didn't do much for me-it still has to be chopped off! But I'm not wearing heels so that makes a difference.
I am 5'1" and I will be wearing this, sorry I don't have a pic of me in it yet.
Thanks for all the inspiration! No dress yet, but I'm 4' 11 (hence my name ;) ). You all look wonderful.... none of you look short or swallowed up by your dresses at all! There is hope for me yet. :)
@EvaBostonTerrier: You look gorgeous! Just wondering what style your BM are wearing, I love them!!
@TinyTina: I was worried about the same thing and I found the opposite to be true. I found that with the ball gown I felt taller, sleeker and elegant.
Great post! I am 4'11 and 3/4. I think the secret to a fuller skirt is to go with a fitted bodice.
@TinyTina: LoL my name is Tina too and I'm 4"11 or as i say " 5' on a good day"! I have two different doctors tell me 2 different heights so who knows.
I tired on ball growns and they just looked bad on me. I'm more top heavy so it just didn't look as good as the fit and flares did. So it really depends on the person. I ordered a petite size and it JUST came in the other day. When I can I'll take a picture of me in it.
I'm fairly tall, but here is a picture of my wife's dress. She is only 5'1".
I'm normally 5'0"ish but will be wearing 3" heels. Ignore the "rule" that short women can't wear tea length dresses, we certainly can!
Excuse the pinned "wings" at the shoulder and the lumps in the skirt, I only have pictures of me in the dress from after the seamstress first got at it. (There will be an added flower at the waist to frame my grandma's solje).
Everyone has picked out dresses that look awesome of them!
@thisismeAXiD: I would consider the BM's dresses A-line dresses. Because I only had two BMs, we actually purchased the dresses in the homecoming/prom section of JCPenny and my mom who has sewing experience shortened them to knee length.

I'm 5'1".....This dress has a trumpet skirt and empire waist. It had a sweatheart neckline and a really nice low cut back. I went to David's Bridal specifically so I wouldn't have to alter the hem--they have a line of petite sizes....I still had to wear 4 inch heals :o(
I've already accepted the fact that my dress is going to have to be hemmed A LOT... but did everyone here wear monster heels? I HATE wearing high heels, but I am going to look like a little midget next to my FI if I don't....
I had an awful time trying to find dresses that fit me (5' 3"). In the end I was only able to wear sleek A-line dresses. Anything else just made me look like a big ball of material!
