Definitely won’t look tacky without stockings – I think it’s really up to your girls. Patyhose/stockings are not used nearly as much as they used to be – no one will notice if they aren’t wearing them!

If it’s an outdoor wedding in October, it might be a good idea. OVerall I think it should be up to your BM’s. I don’t think anyone will notice if they do or do not wear them. IT’s more a personal preferance these days.

I am not a stockings kind of girl, so of course I voted no. It won’t look tacky at all.

My wedding was in December and one of my bridesmaids was self-conscious of her pale legs and she wore panty hose.  I would never have noticed unless she told me and I would her rather feel comfortable.  Her dress hit her at mid-calf.

I think you should leave it up to your bridesmaids.  the only advantage I see is to keep them warm.  I personally hate wear them so I wouldn’t be a big fan!

I doubt anyone will notice if they’re wearing stockings or now. I will admit that the stockings & open toe shoes look irks me but to each his own.

I would give them the choice but I think that more natural/nude color stocking would look better than say a real tan pair… and white arms lol

I think it should be up to your girls, but I know that I wouldn’t want to wear them! I never do, and I am supposed to everyday for work, but I just can’t stand them!!!! I also don’t think they will keep them that much warmer to make a big difference

We have more in common than just our wedding dates!  My mom thinks my bridesmaids need pantyhose even though they definitely won’t be.  She’s also pretty miffed that we’re doing short dresses instead of long.  The last wedding she went to was in 1985 so you can imagine the look of shock on her face with every wedding-related decision I make.

i don’t think people would really notice either way, unless they have strappy shoes. also it probably depends on the weather, if it’s cold they’d probably want to wear them, but if it’s hot i’d say definitely no because it’s too uncomfortable. but i’d leave it up to them.

I think it should be up to them, but you shouldn’t wear regular pantyhose with open toed shoes.  However, they do sell toeless pantyhose, which allows girls who hate their legs (like me!) to wear hose to make their legs look great while wearing open toed shoes and not looking tacky.  Only thing is you have to make sure the hose color matches fairly closely to their toe color, otherwise you will look funny. The other consideration is that if the shoe has very thin straps, the band around the toes may still show.  (I know from experience, I love my toeless hose!)

    Here is one example:

    http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=51876&CatID=51876&Grptyp=PRD&ItemId=13c1c30&cmRef=http://www.google.com/search?q=toeless+pantyhose+in+stores&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGLL_en

Of course, if they are wearing closed toed shoes, then it doesn’t matter.  I am personally a huge fan of hose because I have yucky pasty legs with spider veins, but that is just me.  I am planning on wearing toeless hose as a bridesmaid in my brother-in-law’s wedding this coming weekend, and we are wearing short dresses.
