Haha... good idea! My FI and I are the same height and I HAD to get inch and a half heels so my dress wouldn't need hemmed. I was wondering how I was going to get him to my level again!
FI and I are also the same height (5'7"), but I know he is really sensitive about being shorter for a guy. I am wearing a small heel, but I think the extra heel on his dress shoes will even things out.
FI might or might not be interested. We're the same height (maybe he's 1/2 an inch taller) but I'm only 5' 4". He insisted that I wear heels and has no issue with me being taller... but this may be a cool thing!!
I ran across those shoes looking for something for my man! He said they were too subtle, that if he were going to wear risers he wanted them to have goldfish swimming in the heel. He leaned toward disco platforms, so in the end we were each our natural height.
OTB>> i think normal dress shoes may already give him a 1.5" lift. These puppies i think start at 2.8 inches! So in the end he might be taller than you with these shoes on!
Valhalla>> yea i think most dress shoes lift guys up abt 1-1.5 inches, so things will probably be ok. If you decide to go for higher heels, good to keep this in mind.
Querida>> that's how tall we are! :) My FI says he doesn't mind too much, but when we go out and i have heels taller than 2 inches, he always mentions that i'm tall. I think it makes him uncomfortable but he loves me to much to tell me never to wear heels. :-P These shoes are definitely an idea to keep in mind though huh?
Mary-alice>> lol! he was able to convince you pretty quickly against heels then, huh? if my FI starts leaning towards disco platforms and goldfish heels, I'll put on flats in 2 seconds...flat.
Oh, what an awesome find! My FI is 2 inches shorter than me..I'll have to show him these :)
PLEASE post back and let us know how they looked - and what your FI thought!
I don't want to sound like a Debbie downer, but I am not a fan of those shoes. FI is about two inches taller than me at 5'9 and I want our wedding pictures to show us just as we are. I think our wedding pictures will look funny if FI is towering over me because that is not his real height or way he looks everyday.
Anyways, just my opinion. If you think they will work for you, go for it.
I was two inches taller than my man on our wedding. He didn't care one bit, and nothing looks funny in pictures or anything. We both were totally comfortable and didn't even think about it that day at all.
I was worried about me being taller than my FI he may actually dig this idea!!
Well we bought it! One pair for him and one for my FFIL.
They both chose the same style of dress shoes. Click here to see the link and photos
Little note: This is a post for people who may care that their FI will be shorter than they are on their wedding day. So for those who were comfortable being taller than their man or being short together, then that's great for you. But i'm offering this info for people looking for other alternatives.
I'm not looking to have my FI "towering over me" in these shoes - neither is he. He wanted to look at options that would allow me to wear heels (he doesn't want to restrict me to flats) without him looking 3 inches shorter. We are both the same height w/o shoes, and looking to be the same height in these shoes too.
I think it's a viable option for those who are interested, and I'll definitely let you guys know how it turns out! Looking at their reviews, it seems like ppl are satisfied, although it might take the guys a little bit of adjustment.
Shipment comes in 4 days! :)
Just an update for those interested:
The shoes came in and they look GREAT. They look totally normal from the outside and look like high-quality shoes. They seem to be made pretty well - can't tell you if they'll last since he won't be wearing them on a daily basis.
As for walking in them, my FI at first said "Whoa...this is weird." Because the insoles are raised at the heel the most - so it's almost like walking in heels...but much more comfortable. I tried them on too (i was curious!) They were well cushioned and comfortable, but I can see how it'd be strange at first - especially since guys never walk on anything raised like that. But he said that they seem ok and wants to try them out.
My only complaint: the style we wanted only came in 3in height increase. I would have preferred 2 or 2.5 at the max. But since they are already made, the company can't change the insoles that are built in.
It's strange to see him 3 inches taller, but once I wear my heels, we'll be at the same level again :)
What a great idea! I won't be needing anything like that, since I am about 5'4, and my FI is on the 6'0 range, lol. But that is really good advice!
This post is amazing. FI is shorter than me (not that I'll ever admit it, I'll go to the grave insisting we are the same height, haha) by about half an inch. I really really don't care about his height, but he did for the sake of wedding pictures. Thank you sooo much for posting this!!

So my FI and I are on the shorter side of the stick. Not too big of a deal, right?
Except that I love wearing heels, and our bridal party will be lots taller than us when they stand next to us. I don't want to feel dwarfed on my wedding day.
So my FMIL was searching around and found this place online that has some great looking dress shoes for guys. And the best part is...they have "invisible lifts"!
Check them out at www.tallmenshoes.com - and right now they have a 20% of sale for Thxgiving.(yay!)
We're definitely buying a pair for him, and my FFIL is thinking about it too.
I'll let you know how they turn out!
