@sizzle: Yes exactly. My concern is adding more fabric on the shoulders is just going to make my boobs look bigger! I like the idea of one strap just as an embellishment....to be different. But I think you are right, I will just have to wait and try stuff on. I wore a jim hejlm bridesmaid dress in my friend's wedding last year and I had to get an 8 and scale the rest down. Alterations people are going to hate me for sure! lol
I am 5'4, wear a size 2 or 26 pant with a DD chest. Here is my dress. This was before alterations so it's a bit big on me in the upper part. All I reccomend is ordering your dress in the size to fit your bust. I had to order 4 sizes larger for my bust
Play around with different necklines- I'm a 5'0" 32H, my dress has tip-of-the-shoulder straps into a V-neckline it does not make mine look bigger.
Of course, also make sure you have a well-fitting and supportive bra. Becuase I have good support under the dress, my dress is a simple zipper back, there was no need for internal support in the bodice.
i would def go for a sweetheart neckline. im sorta the same, 5'2 around 120 and i wear a DD.
i found this website. Its for full figured (which you are not) and busty brides (which we are :) )
Neckline Tips
One Last Neckline Tip:
Keep your neckline and bustline simple. It's best to avoid large embellishments, heavy beadwork or other large details on the bodice. It will be the first place people look and we're trying to downplay this area.
Dress Cut Tips
Most all the experts agree that an A-line silhouette (also known as the Princess cut) highlights an hourglass figure the best. This means that the sides of the dress will hug your curves, flaring out just at or below the waist.
A drop waist is another style that will help to elongate your waist and define the area between our bustline and hips.
Empire waist does not flatter a big bust. Wearing this style with large breasts can make you look pregnant! Ekkk! We Definitely don't want that! Unless maybe that's what you're going for. Don't waste you time with this style and stay focused on looking for a wedding dress that flatters a big bust.
Some women with big busts like the corset style dresses. This style does offer support and can streamline your silhouette.
Wedding Dress Bottom Tips
Moderate fullness in the skirt is a good thing for busty brides because it will balance out top-heaviness.
The fullness offered by an A-line or princess cut is very flattering to women of all body shapes.
Another trick to looking thinner and more balanced is to pick a wedding dress that is on the longer side.
If you like dresses with decorations and embellishments, the skirt and train are the places to have them. It will become the focal point and help minimize the bust size.

I am like a size 6. And I am a 36D. My dress is a sweetheart neckline..it looks great! :) I would definately go with a sweety heart It is very flaterring for us "busty Ladies" If you want to check out my dress...it's "Adorae" By Sottero and Midgley :) BTW you have a great figure! :)
same here.. sweetheart neckline and i went to get it fitted about 1000 times with my seamstress (pick a VERY experienced seamstress)... it just takes a bunch of follow up to get the perfect fit.
I'm about the same build as you (5'3", size 3-4), my boobs are probably smaller than yours (34D US size) but still big for my frame. I wore two dresses and it was a nightmare fitting them both on me, though I partly blame this on the seamstresses. I felt the dresses were suffocating me in the chest and not tight enough in the waist after alterations. My second dress had no support in the chest area and I almost had a Janet Jackson boob flash moment during our first dance. My Lazaro ceremony dress was a much better fit, because it had cups built into the chest deep enough to accomodate the girls without crushing them. Still, because it had a deep sweetheart shape, I almost didn't wear the dress because I felt I looked like Boobzilla. My mom then came up with a brilliant solution the day before and sewed a tulle modesty panel onto the chest. It improved the look of the dress drastically. Here's a pic:

@meliss: That is a gorgeous look on you! I like sweetheart as well but dodn't want to look like "boobzilla" either. LOL
Thank you all so much for the help! I will come back on here when I start actually trying gowns on...and I will for sure be taking your advice. :)
@MissJay: you look great! I am not a fan of lace myself, but the silouette on this style of dress is awesome! Thanks for the advice.
I've got the same build. I've tried on sweetheart necklines, though, and unfortunately, they end up making me look far too busty. I would have to add in a modesty panel so it's not a titsplosion. I suppose that might just be because the dresses at the store weren't the right size, though.
I agree that off the shoulder sleeves are very flattering. They tend to bring focus to the collarbone, too, which accents that you are indeed petite - and makes people look above the boobs rather than at them.
I agree that a dropped waist and a full skirt look best. Honestly, I think the fuller the skirt, the better.
Also look into sashes or something to draw attention to your small waist. It will really highlight how thin you are.
I know that the problem I usually have is that I just look fat in all my clothes because my waist ends up hidden. A shirt fits across my shoulders and chest just fine, but then it hits the end of my boobs and just drops, so I look like I'm wearing a sack, and no one can tell that my waist is several inches smaller than it looks.
@GreenEyedMoon: I have the same clothing problems. I am often looking for tops that I can wear long over tights or skinny jeans so that I can get away with a belt. i feel ya! I will keep off-the-shoulder dresses in mind. :)
@GreenEyedMoon: titsplosion is officially my new favorite word. I'm going to try to pepper it into conversation whenever possible.
@meliss: That modesty panel is gorgeous-and brilliant! Had you not mentioned that your mom did it, I would never have thought that the dress didn't come that way! It looks so classy.
This thread is fantastic. I'm a little shorter (5' 1") and a wee bit wider (about a dress size 8-10) than most of you ladies, and my 36DD's are making me VERY nervous about dress shopping. It's nice to know that it can be done--you all look beautiful and classy!
@LittleMissBrassBand: Thank you so much! My mom is awesome, I wish I'd inherited her DIY talents and creativity.
I know this problem well, and wedding dress shopping was interesting! I'm 5'2, curvy (8-10) and a 36DD. There was one dress that I found that I realky liked, but the one thing that really annoyed me was how much cleavage was showing and uncomfortable I felt bending over. So I found another dress I loved, especially for the venue and bought that. Now I'm starting to second guess though because I realize it shows absolutely no cleavage! What seemed at the time like a great idea, now is making me wonder if that was an odd thing to do.
The sweetheart was key for me (32F chest, 5'1"), as was the A-line. I didn't like the full skirts as they made me feel shorter, but mermaids and A-lines worked well. I ended up going with spaghetti straps and a deep sweetheart. (Pic of the dress is not fitted yet) , but included in the Aire Barcelona price is that they make it custom to your measurements, which was crucial. Good luck!

Wedding dresses for women who have petite frame should be those that have simple cuts and simple fabric type to make them look taller and slender. Princess style is very lengthening, as they have seams which run from the top of the bodice all the way to the hem of the skirt without interruption. The A-line skirt is much more proportional to a petite frame than a very full ballgown.
Consider styles that have thick shoulder straps, and wear with a full support bra to reduce the look of being top-heavy. Styles with a bow, or tie just below the bust are also flattering on large busted woman.
Off the shoulder style will look wonderful on a full bust as well. It draws our attention upward, emphasizes the shoulders and minimizes the chest. This style is great when the bride also wears a narrow skirt. Hope this can help. Good luck!
I have the exact same figure and clothes shopping is a nightmare. I ended up with a fit and flare sweetheart wedding gown, that seemed to be the best shape for our body issues. I really liked some v-neck dresses, but the v was always WAY too low, even when altered down to my size.
^^ Ditto, to the point where I'm considering a reduction after the wedding. I guess mermaids are still ok for petite women, as long as it's not too severe of a flare?
I'm 5'0 and my boobs are 34D/32DD. Like everybody notices them ALWAYS!! haha.
I think my boobs look perfect ie not too big in my wedding dress (this is at my first alterations appointment - it's pinned right under the bust).

oh, my pants are normally 0-2, and tops medium. My dress is a size 10 because of my boobs - I have to get the hips taken WAAAY in!

So I have almost the same build as you, and I always find shopping for clothes a pain in the butt because I always have to try everything on! Which is what I did with wedding dresses I told my consultant to bring one dress of every style, and I tried them all on! I ended up with a strapless sweetheart neckline in an all lace dress, which I had to get in a wedding dress size 14 just for my boobs! Everything had to be altered and the boning in the chest of my dress my poor alterations lady had to redo entirely to make it fit perfect! My best suggestion would be to just try whatever you like on and make sure it fits your boobs and that they clip you in really good so you can get the idea of what it will look like. I thought I would end up getting someting with strap but all the dresses with straps I tried on I thought made my chest look even bigger!
