I’m getting married October 30th and my girls are wearing tea-length. I think that having them in long dresses with you in a short one would be… awkward. I dunno. I’m not a fan of that idea at all.

I think that if it would make you feel more comfortable for them to wear shorter dresses then it shouldn’t really be an issue, especially if they’re not having to go outside.

I’m wearing a tea-length dress and I have 2 girls wearing cocktail length dresses and two wearing floor length dresses. I have no problem with them having longer dresses cos I don’t think length has anything to do with the formality of a dress. But each to their own! 😉

Since it’s in the same building as you say, and even you are wearing a cocktail length dress, then the bridesmaids shouldn’t have a problem wearing the shorter length dresses.

It would only be unfair or asking too much if you were the only one wearing a long dress while they are shivering, which is not the case here.  So I would stick with the short dresses like you were planning, because I think that complements the bride’s dress best.

It’s your wedding so they should do what it takes to make you happy.  I agree that it would look strange with u in a shorter dress and them in a more formal gown–they would upstage you and all the attention should be on you!  Maybe the option of them wearing panyhose and a shawl could help??

we didn’t know that it was going to be freezing on our wedding date, so as the day got closer and it wasn’t warming up i told my girls they could wear tights and whatever they needed to stay warm. i think especially since your wedding is indoors, it should be fine to have short.

I agree, the girls shouldn’t have dresses that are longer than yours!  Also, really how “warm” would they be in a few extra feet of taffeta or chiffon or satin?  It’s not like their dresses are going to be made of wool or something. 🙂

A pashmina (perhaps even as a gift) should smooth this over.  The Pashmina Store has a ton of variety.  When in doubt, get a black one.

@Statutory Grape: You’re very welcome!

I actually thought, right after I posted, “Oh god, is there any way her BM dresses could be wool??  I hope I didn’t offend…”

Clearly, I haven’t had my coffee yet today.  LOL!

I just wanted to add that I got my girls pashminas too, but mine were only like $4-$5 a piece from an ebay seller. I’m sure they are synthetic material, but they are still really soft and are REALLY good for a $4 pashmina.
