I am in a similar situation and how I handled it was I just sent out a text to all my BM's (we always communicate via text so that wasnt a cop out, just a FYI) and let them know I found their dresses and gave them the price and let them know it would be cheaper on them if they just let me order them because I could order then all at once which would decrease their shipping cost and then set a date that I was going to order them by. All seemed perfectly ok with it (my cousin and my sister gave me than money that day), I also let them know that this way all the dresses would be created from the same dye lot so everyone would match.
I ordered from Netbride and did the exact same thing as above (will definitely post good/bad when they show up). They were nearly $100 cheaper with Netbride, so I just asked the girls if they would mind if I ordered them all together, so we would only have to pay the $35.00 shipping once and they could pay me their share.
I think if you frame it as cost savings to them, and a detail they don't have to handle, it's not awkward at all.
Thanks - I feel better already! My other question is did you ask them to get measured and give you their measurements so you could determine what size to order? How was that process? I hope I order them the right size!
I am doing the same thing. Since I ordered my dress from david's bridal-- i received a coupon for $20 off each dress up to six dresses.. but only one code so I can only use it once-- so i'm ordering all their dresses and they are just going to pay me back. I sent them e-mails-- also how we tend to communicate-- and they were all happy to be saving the money.
I did this for a few of my BMs and it wasn't awkward at all. I asked them to give me the size before ordering and they all sent me checks promptly.
Well, we were originally really going to buy them from the bridal store where I bought my wedding dress, so everybody got measured at the store, and the girls saw what they had measured.
But, it's really not that difficult to take measurements. Have them get a friend to take a bust/waist/hip measurement, or go to a seamstress and they'll do it for a fee if you're not getting any other service.
Then in theory you should buy them the size that fits their largest measurement.
2 of my 6 girls have been dragging their feet to get measured and order their dresses (my 2 MOHs already RECEIVED their dresses 2 months ago!!), so I finally demanded their measurements and ordered them myself. I just sent an email this morning with the conf details and asking for their checks. They have until the end of next week until I get nasty. They've have since NOVEMBER to do this!!

I have chosen my BM dresses and want to order them from netbride.com, given all the wonderful reviews I've read here and elsewhere. On the website, it says that all dresses should be ordered together to ensure they are the same color. I have no problem doing this - but that means I would have to ask my BM's to send me a check for the amount. This feels more awkward than just having them buy the dresses themselves, but I don't want to take any risks with multiple orders to worry about. The website is significantly cheaper than the stores! Anyone have the same situation? What do you think about this?
