@birdy88:  I know it stings a little now, you honestly won’t notice…who knows why….but I’m sure they’ve got their reasons.

@birdy88:  I would be sad, but you can’t really be angry if you FI isn’t angry. They are HIS family afterall. Myabe his sister has a reputation for doing things like that, and since she does it often, it doesn’t phase him?

That’s definitely a bummer but like a previous poster mentioned, you may not even notice! The important part is the ceremony so they will still see you get married 🙂

At least you don’t have to pay for them all now, at least.

@birdy88:  Even though you will be one big family, you gotta take your FIs lead when it comes to dealing with his side, just as he should take your lead when dealing with yours. He has (presumably) over 20 years of expirience dealing with her, and maybe he knows more about her actions. If you want to talk to him about why he doesn’t mind, you can, but don’t force him to get angry at his own sister if he isn’t already.

Depending on the time of the wedding or the time between the ceremony and dinner I can understand them leaving. I have small children with a very regular bedtime, and while of course they CAN stay up later, their behaviour rapidly deteriorates as their bedtime passes. Perhaps they have a committment the following day and don’t want to be out late?

Regardless, I wouldn’t be offended. Sometimes it is difficult to understand the reasoning of others. At least they are attending the ceremony.

@birdy88:  …just avail yourself to enjoying the day, however and with whomever!

I doubt you’ll notice.

It’s nice that with 2 small kids they’re able to come at all. Unfortunately you need to follow suit with your FI and let it go.
