BEES PLEASE HELP ME. I WAS MARRIED TO MY NATE HUSBAND IN 2005. I BOUGHT A MARYS BRIDAL GOWN. I STILL HAVE THAT GOWN AND AM NOW ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED IN SUMMER 2014. WELL I WANT TO BUY A NEW GOWN CAUSE THE FIRST GOWN (ALTHOUGH VERY BEAUTIFUL) HAD SOME ISSUES WITH THE ALTERATIONS BUT CAN BE SALVAGED. FOR MANY YEARS NOW I HAVE WANTED TO SELL IT, BUT COULD NEVER BRING MYSELF TO DOING IT CAUSE MY HUSBAND HAS NOW PASSED ON.
MY NEW H2B SAYS THAT I SHOULD GET MARRIED IN THE GOWN INSTEAD OF BUYING A NEW ONE. THIS TIME HAVING IT TALORED CORRECTLY AND MAYBE ADDING SOME DETAILS THAT WILL TAILOR IT TO OUR WEDDING. I DONT KNOW HOW WEIRD THIS WILL BE OR IF ITS CREEPY. ON ONE HAND I WILL SAVE A LOT OF MONEY AND CAN BE CREATIVE BY ADDING SOME DETAILS TO THE DRESS AND GETTING IT ALTERED RIGHT. BACK THEN MY DRESS WAS $350 BRAND NEW AND THE ONES I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT ARE AT LEAST TWICE THAT. WHAT ARE YOU THOUGHTS

If you are not comfortable wearing your first dress for obvious reasons, then don’t. You can get some beautiful dresses inexpensively, either through sales or through second hand dresses. I am sorry about your first, but I am thrilled for you that you found a new love. I hope that he will be understanding about why you don’t want to wear it. Please come back and show us you in the dress, whatever you decide.
Welcome to the Hive!

I only paid $350 for my dress (which was new and not a floor sample), so it’s totally possible. 🙂
Every bride deserves to look the way she wants on her wedding day. If you feel better knowing you are wearing a different dress, then do it.

definitely get a new dress, the first one would have too many memories, but whatever makes you happy 🙂

my vote is for a new one 🙂

A lot of bees have ordered their dresses from companies like dressilyme, they can be pretty inexpensive and you have a long time before your wedding to have one made. That might be something to check into 🙂

So sorry to hear about your husband. Personally, I think that a new dress would signify a new start. Perhaps you could use some of the fabric of your first dress to add an accent (sash/bouquet wrap/train insert) as a way of ‘remembering’ your first husband? Further, places like DB always have bargain dresses so it’s totally doable with your budget. Good luck.

personally, i would get a new dress. Preserve the first one with the memories of your 1st husband. Begin your new marriage with a new dress.

I couldn’t wear the old dress as I think your new marriage is a new start. I am sorry for the loss of your husband and it sounds like the man you are marrying is a keeper for giving you the option of wearing it.
I got my custom dress at DressilyMe and I paid $144 including shipping and a garment bag. It’s gorgeous and it looks like a dress that cost 10 times that!
Best wishes whatever you decide! Only you know what’s right for you.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I think a new gown for a new life and new husband is a good idea. That first dress has a lot of memories attatched to it, I’m sure.

@SunnyBunny: YOUR SO RIGHT. I WOULD LIKE A MORE PERSONAL TOUCH TO MY GOWN. MAYBE THIS IS MY CHANCE TO HAVE IT
