Let me just state first off that I love pink and all things pink. 🙂 So it’s almost Summer and I went and cut off a good portion of my hair, it’s a cute Summer cut now and I love it. I have had this idea in the back of my head to dye my hair pink for 2 years now. I have bought the dye but always chickened out and gave it away. I’m a stay at home mom and photographer, and my oldest daughter is going to be starting school in Sept. I was kind of thinking this Summer would be the best time to do it, It would be out by Sept and we aren’t getting engagment pictures done until Oct. We don’t really have anything going on that I would look back and say what was I thinking? So should I finally commit before I dive head first into wedding planning and school and my business?
ETA I’m blonde right now and if I did dye it pink it would be a light pink, not an electric or bright pink.

Do highlights. I had pink highlights for a summer and they were great (I was 17 though). Get semipermanent dye so its all washed out by the end of the summer. Mine lasted about 6 weeks (I’m blonde) but on darker hair it can fade more quickly.

Don’t do your entire head but DO go with some pops of color.

Do whatever you want to do! It’s just hair. It can be colored again, and it grows out.

I like the idea of pink highlights! I want to do that… 🙂

go for it! my hair is hot pink, purple, and turquoise/blue! i was debating whether to go back to my normal hair for our engagement pics and/or wedding, but my colorful hair (and just bright colors in general) is kinda my trademark, so it’s staying. so yeah, you should do it 🙂

I suggest pink streaks. I have light brown hair with pink and pale blond streaks just on the top layer only. it is noticeable enough w/o committing to the color all over.
note: I went to a salon for the pink part, and it is SUPER permanent! I tried bleaching out some of it using quick blue + 40 vol peroxide, and even after 45 min processing, it still did not come out!
so I’m not sure what it takes to get the professional quality stuff out of your hair, but if I ever decide to get rid of this color, I might have to dye over it with brown to cover it up. if you want to do color that is easier to get out, use a vegetable dye like manic panic. it fades fast but at least you can get it out.
if you want the pink to be really permanent though, go to a salon. they have way better dyes than what we can get at sally beauty supply!

yes, if you want it to wash out fairly quickly, manic panic is a good choice. i used to use that on my hair and i would have to reapply the color every 2-3 weeks. now i use punky colour by jerome russell. it lasts a lot longer.
and just a heads up- the dye will stain your towels, your pillowcases, your sink/bathtub…pretty much anything it touches. sometimes the color comes out pretty easily, but sometimes it’s there to stay.

I say go for it! My hair is constantly changing colors though, and I did just get home from having my purple and blue touched up.

Do you know what dye your salon used? My hair girl was telling me today that she won’t use the goldwell dye because it doesn’t come out. She said it has a color lock in it or something so you can’t bleach it out or color over it.

DO IT! I would kill to be young again and to be able to dye my hair pink. I think you will regret it if you don’t.
Go PINK and have fun! 🙂

I don’t think I’d do the whole head pink..but hilights can be cute! I also like the look where the bottom layer of hair is dyed a cool color.
