Unless yours is a destination wedding or is over a holiday weekend, STDs are not required. If you maintain a wedding website that your family knows about, just post the date there. EVen with no website, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
No, I had the same situation and didn't send them out ... and we're getting married next month. RSVPs are coming in with lots of yes replies. :)
The only reason I sent them is that we got married in July - prime vacation time - so I wanted people to be able to plan accordingly. Also we had some people travelling pretty far, so I wanted them to be able to plan early (we sent ours in January). If you're pretty sure everybody knows the date already, and there's only a few weeks gap between your STDs and your invitations, I would just skip the STD.

Our wedding is January 3, 2009. Most of the guest will be in-town and the few out of town guests already know about the date and location through word of mouth. My original plan was to send out the STD in early August and the invitations early October with an RSVP date of November. Now its looking as though my STD will not be able to go out until mid Sept. I haven't ordered them yet but I plan to do so ASAP from Wedding Paper Divas. So what do you ladies think? Thanks!
