I didn't have one and I didn't need one. I will say this though, I've seen some super cute ones that others have posted pictures of on this site and I almost wanted to get one just to have a cute clutch. I didn't care about putting anything in it :)

I voted but I already used a clutch on the wedding day. I put my lip glosses and perfume in it for touch-ups and I definitely used it at the reception. The only thing I regret is not putting gum in it!

    Nope! I won't need one...

I would love to buy a really chic little clutch, but I'm really trying to edit the things I'll actually need on the day. If I need lip gloss or other makeup essentials- my MOH will be the one lugging it round not me :P lol

yes, getting one. (actually... err.... bought three! all eBay vintage, 1940s little purses; all cheap.... three? i think i lost my mind! heh heh. si just wanted to get more bridal stuff. keepsake. actually, i think i'll have one of my 7 or 8 year old nieces deputized to carry it. it will hold a wedding hankies -- might need it in the island heat! -- lipstick.... a spare bobby pin... etc. )

I generally feel naked without a purse or clutch of some sort but decided to have everything put in a locked room close to the reception that I could go to it in case I needed to do touchups.  Thinking about it now, I wish that I would have left some articles with my maid of honor or my mom on the wedding day, which would have made my items more accessible.

I kind of want  a cute adorable one just to have for pictures.  But I'm sure I'll use it too.  I won't carry it everywhere, or be worried about having it with me at all times, but I'm sure there will be some things I'll want to carry around like in the morning, and on the way to the reception, etc.

The position of my wedding clutch will be filled by my 5 bridesmaids. Lol. I kid, I kid. Actually, I'm planning to use this Chanel bag.

Probably not, but that's just because I fully intend to find a dress with pockets! Or make a garter flask. No, JK. But it would be awesome.

Lol. A garter flask would be awesome, if even just for the street cred of wearing a garter flask on your wedding day. :p

@fifty! love the Chanel!  if I can afford to get something that I can treasure and keep using beyond the wedding, yes, I'll get one.  But alas, not in budget.  So, I'm going w/o one.  I have a Mary Norton clutch that I "invested" in, perhaps use that for pictures?

I was thinking what FIFTY thought...isn't that why I have bridesmaids!  I didn't think it was necessary and it would just be another expense!  All i need is lipgloss and I'm good to go!!

My fiancé's mom just got married, so I'm going to use her clutch.  It wasn't anything terrible fancy, she made it at 1154 Lil in all white fabric.  I figure it'll be my 'something borrowed.'

okay, i've got to stop procrastinating (supposed to be working tonight). but here are two of the 3 -- !!-- wedding clutches i bought. the white one is vintage guipure lace on a vintage 1940s clutch, from etsy. the gold one is 1940s vintage whiting and davis metal-mesh (tons and tons of these are available affordably on ebay or rubylane.com, starting very affordably, around $35 ... and up)

@sleepylittlesailor- That first clutch is. so. cute. Who made that on Etsy?! I must know!

My maids of honor are less than dependable, so a clutch is a must for me. Plus I'm slightly OCD about chapstick, and I have no doubt that I'll be dashing around the corner to check my forehead for any shinyness!

I had a sparkly white one my mom bought somewhere online! It's very vintage and I really do love it. I think I kept eyelash glue, my ID, lipstick and lipgloss, and bobby pins in it. Stuff my girls could have carried, but it worked for me! I also kept my jewelry in it until I was ready to put it on.

All along I had an image of me carrying my dream clutch ... but now that I'm getting closer and closer, I realize it will be in my way. Where will I put it? How will I know it will not get "taken" by someone on accident ... what if I am holding it and ...

Like all of those thoughts come to mind and I just feel like it's not something I will want to carry around on my day.

I actually bought a white fabric wristlet bag for someone else's wedding a couple of years ago. It has rhinestones and silver and clear beads all over it. I forgot all about it but when I mentioned to FI that I was going to buy a purse, he reminded me that we already spent $$ on a white bag. Haha. How come he has such a good memory all of a sudden? It's very pretty and I'm glad I get to put ti to use again.

I  used a clutch that I already had on the wedding day (a ruffley gold number).  It looked cute, but honestly, I don't think I opened it more than once!  I think I might have checked my lipstick between ceremony and reception, but that was it.  In fact, I realized that I had left it in the reception room as we were leaving, and had to have my brother run up to get it.  I think if I would have bought something new, I would have gotten something that I thought I could use again in a different context (aka nothing too "bridal").  I think I needed it less than I anticipated I would.

mine was similar to EJs...It was my great-aunt's vintage ivory beaded clutch.  My mom carred it on her wedding day too, I used to play dress up with it.  I seriously only had a compact and lip gloss in there, it was TOALLY unnecessary.  I was handing it off all day then finally plopped it on the head table and let it be

I did have a clutch.  I only carried it briefly when I arrived at the venue.  I kept my makeup in it for touch-ups.  It came in handy and it's really nice sentimental keepsake.

I found it for $7 at a little shop near my family's cabin called "Charming but Cheap, and Possibly Antique"

I probably won't end up using mine much, but I plan on carrying a pop of color clutch, and mainly jsut using some lip gloss out of it.

I need something to put my lipgloss in :)

I almost spent $100 on a beautiful one from etsy, but I just couldn't justify spending that much on a white clutch.

So, I found a new one on ebay that was royal blue (my something blue) for $15. I can totally reuse too because I have a cocktail dress that goes with it!

I always have to have something to carry my goodies in! I never go anywhere without a purse or bag. I think it's a comfort thing - so I most definitely will be toting around something! :)

Crap, I meant to vote for the second option!

Yes, I'm getting a clutch, and I am SO SO SO EXCITED, it's gorgeous! Yay for etsy!  I'm getting a custom one- I don't want one that is too small, I think the standard kisslock 8" frame is too small for me, so I am doing a 10" one with a big bow from Viabella for $78.

So far I've only splurged on two bridal items- an etsy pearl bracelet I couldn't DIY because I couldn't find a matching brooch, and this clutch. I got a wonderful sewing machine at my shower and completely intended on making my own, but I'm so bogged down with working on other things that I decided to just splurge and buy one.

I'm one of those people who carry everything in their purse all the time, "be prepared" and all that (I even have a survival kit and a flint in my purse that my FI bought me, just because YOU NEVER KNOW, haha!!), so for me the clutch will be necessary.

beautiful purses ladies. weddingbee is so great that you can get opinions from other brides on what they are doing to help one decide on whether to get a wedding clutch or not. keep the opinions coming.  this really helps, otherwise who could we ask.

I carried the one my mom used on her wedding day...and it turned out to match my gold petticoat exactly.  But I didn't need it at all.  Not even sure I ever opened it...just wanted it for the sentimental value...I never even had to reapply lipgloss.

I'm thinking about getting one, but I am not sure yet. If I can't find one for a reasonable price, I probably won't get it. I will probably look around for one in a thrift shop or something, and I would use it, to keep touch up items in.

hmmm never really thought about it... i'll probably say no for now because we're getting married at a private country club and FI's uncle is the manager there. so i'm hoping he'll let me use his office or somewhere similar for touch ups... or i could just go to his house (also located on the country club's property)

I did have a little clutch. It was given to me as a gift and I wouldn't have bought one otherwise.. It didn't really match my dress in the end, but I still would have used it except I forgot it at home... Totally didn't even need it though.
