I personally prefer just painted nails in a nice color and I always have because if you are going to look fake, go for it and dont pretned.. And I have no idea if its still true, but in the last few weeks I saw that the “fashion” people on E said french manicures is “old Lady”.

I am getting gel nails for my e pics on Monday.  I think I am going to do a shorter, rounded, more natural french manicure.  I think instead of it being stark white with beige, I might have a more nature pink put over it if that makes sense.  I know there will be pictures of my hands, and my nails are atrocious (I bite them), so something has to be done!

I wouldn’t do it, especially if youre not used to them or dont wear them often. Just paint your nails as you’d planned and be yourself 🙂

@Earlybride:  I am not sure.  I am not a person who normally pays a lot of attention to my nails, so I don’t know much about the nails from Walgreens, but if they look good, why not.  My only reservation is that I don’t know if I would be able to do them myself because I have a very unsteady hand, but that might not be the case for you at all. Honestly, my sisters bought me a gift certificate to get a gel french manicure for my pictures as an engagement gift because they said my hands are too ugly.

I did.  I bought the Kiss Everlasting French Nails.  I bite my nails so they look horrible and figure there would be a few pics of my ring so I wanted my nails to look nice.  Plus we did a Save the date sign that we were holding so I knew my hands would show.  I hadn’t done them before but they were easy to use, just be careful with the glue.  They lasted a while and I got compliments on them. Here’s a pic.

@MapleMoose: Thanks, I was worried about putting them on but I thought they turned out nicely.  And I had to go check out your ring and I love it! Looks very similar to mine.

i’m a wanna bee nail artist. i always use false nails and i buy clear false nails, because they are see through they look more real, i also use a brush on nail glue as that way you don’t end up too much gule on, i use a white (french nail vanish) and use my natural nail line as a guide. if you don’t have a steady had you can get stick on guides that peel away easily after applying the white vanish, just be careful to not apply to much white to prevent running, always use a clear top coat to protect the vanish from chipping, with a little practice you can get great results

@redhead46: I used the Kiss nails when I went overseas a few years ago. I didn’t want to bring nailpolish and didn’t want to deal with acrylics. They lasted over a week and looked very nice.

I’ve used the Kiss brand quite often as my nails never want to grow. I like them, it just takes a bit of getting used to for the first couple of days. But lately I’ve become much more partial to a short nail with dark polish on them.
