I want my bridesmaids to have comfy shoes. My sister will be 5months pregnant at my wedding so we have to make her toes comfy. 🙂
I was wondering what you all think of flip flops for the bridesmaids? My dresses are long and the wedding is in a Catholic church. Do you guys think this is inappropriate? Not formal enough? My step mom thought so and so did one of my bridesmaids. All the others seemed to like them. What do you guys think? Should I buy them or get shoes a little fancier with a heel?
The flops are a blush pink(hard to tell in this pic)….same as the flower they will wear in their hair.
Here is their dresses but they are in champagne.
And the flip flops:

First of all, I love that dress! So gorgeous. Second, I’d go for something a little more formal. The dress seems really formal and it’d be weird to have such a casual shoe with it, imo.

The flip flops are totally cute BUT I would be incredibly uncomfortable if someone asked me to wear those as a bridesmaid in a Catholic church. For me, they are way too casual. I would wear them at the end of the reception when my feet started to hurt. Also, I loooove the bridesmaid dresses, so pretty!

Every bridesmaid I have ever known has changed into flip flops after the wedding. Go formal for the church and let them change. There are cute formal options out there; no one expects your 5 mo pregnant bridesmaid in a pair of sky high Loubs or anything! But flip flops say more “heading down to the beach for a margarita, wanna come?” than “pair me with a beautiful, fancy Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dress” to me.

Amaryllis: lol that made me laugh about the “heading down the beach for a margarita.”
You guys are right….maybe if it wasn’t in a Catholic Church and maybe if it wasn’t a Jim Hjelm dress. Maybe I will buy them as a gift for the girls for after the ceremony and then let them buy and pick out their own shoes for the ceremony.
This was great advice from you all. Thanks!!!!!!!
Now moving on……..anyone have advice on the bra they should wear with this dress? I didn’t think about it when buying it.

Since it’s a long dress, I would just leave it up to them to pick the shoes they will be most comfortable in. I actually really dislike flipflops (the thing between your toes tends to be really uncomfortable for me, and they usually don’t give you any arch support). By letting them pick what they want to wear, they can also wear shoes that are already broken in, which will be even more comfortable.

Those sandals are super cute, but I think that I tried them on recently and they weren’t very comfortable. I would recommend that you get something a little more formal and then maybe you could buy other flip-flops (like those at Old Navy). See pic below:
