i think any higher and it may be too high?

Also, it seems the top of the diamond should usually line up with the halo around it. If you raise it , they would be at different levels.

totally up to you though. lovely set.

@LovesBeingAMrs:  I think if you had it set higher it would catch on so many things and personally that would really irritate me. And it might not be as secure.

And I think it’s beautiful as-is and the center stone still has plenty of prominence 🙂

@LovesBeingAMrs:  Oh I see what you mean. I still think it would be too high though. Also to reset it , they may have to change the head of it? so it may be , at least a couple hundred? Just guessing. Does it really bother you a lot not seeing the bottom of the diamond itself?

@LovesBeingAMrs:  I see what you’re saying, just not sure it can be done without compromising the structural integrity of the halo. Can you ask a professional jeweler for their opinion?

@LovesBeingAMrs:  I personally wouldnt, because the set is so high already it will start to look a little.. funny.

But at the end of the day totally up to you. Perhaps you could find a set with the hight it would take yours to, and do a bit of a test run.

I think it would be weird if it sat any higher.  Solitaires that show the bottom usually have like, a see-through side, if that makes any sense.

I think the setting is pretty high as it is and I think you may actually regret changing it.

i hate tall rings for me personally because i scratch my child with my rings all the darn time… makes me feel horrible 🙁 so i would be trying to set the diamond lower into the halo lol. but i too think it is personal preference. if you like it tall, and it wont make your prongs weaker in anyway i say follow your heart.

@LovesBeingAMrs:  Its the kind of trade-off you make with a halo though, unless you set it low enough into the halo that you can see the culet under the halo.

Would you want it to look like this? (just the diamond and prongs obv :P)

Eeeek, personally, I think it would would funny if you made the diamond sit up any higher.  Right now, it looks fluid…….BUT that is my opinion.  You have do what you like best.  After years of jewelry mishaps, though, I’ve learned to accept something as good when it really is, in fact, good.  When you start to mess with things to try and perfect, problems often arise, and they can’t always be put back to normal.  Just something to consider!
