Should I not rush to buy it now?

Dresses can get discontinued at any time.  If you really love it, I would order it.  Also, most places recommend ordering about 1 year in advance.  If you do order, though, I would stop looking at dresses.  Once you’ve decided, don’t confuse yourself by continuing to look.  Good luck with your decision!

@paperplanegirl:  I wouldn’t order until you for sure have a date/venue locked down. have you tried the dress on? i bought mine in january 2013 for my august 2014 wedding, and wish i’d waited. having too long in between gives you a chance to second-guess yourself.

Love those gowns!  The first dress I purchased was a Tadashi Shoji and by the time I tried to return it to Saks 30 days later, it was already sold out.  (BTW, Saks will not refund full purchase price once a gown sells out /gets marked down…even if you paid full price and have an original receipt. Totally sucks!). I can tell you I bought mine in April and have not seen it anywhere or back on Shoji’s website since.

Those Shoji gowns are so lovely, well-made and reasonably priced, I think they move quickly.  If you really love it, you might not want to wait!

FI and I are hopefully getting married in 2015 (we’re currently long-distance for an as yet indeterminate amount of time, so things are a little up in the air), however last year I saw a dress that I really loved – I thought about it for a while, discussed it with FI, and then I bought it.  I’m glad I did, as it’s since been discontinued.

I don’t expect to have any dress regret as my dress is pretty unique and suits me perfectly, however you need to think about your own tastes and whether you think you’re likely to change your mind in the next 2 years.  If you’re pretty confident you won’t change your mind, and are also confident that if you do change your mind you’re the type of person who can shrug, say “oh well” and still have an amazing wedding day wearing the dress you originally purchased, then I say go for it.

You can, at the very least, order it and see if you like it on you. I am pretty sure this dress is being sold on BHLDN right now, in addition to the Tadashi website, and BHLDN allows free returns (I returned a wedding dress myself). In fact, I would definitely try it on, because I had a mini crush on this dress and scoured for it online. What I discovered is that it can be unflattering from the front, so it doesn’t work for all bodies.

I agree if you know it is the one, then order it.  Because if it is the one and get discontinued you wil not be able to get it.  Ask yourself, can you live with it not being your dress?  if so then keep looking.  If it is no then well you know it is your dress and order it.
