If thats a risk your willing to take then do it. You probably are going to want to wear earrings again in the future. But if its just for the wedding I might just do with what I got. I myself have me done a few times and its always nice when you dont have to pick between two...you just wear them both. I would want to get them done myself so I could wear earrings on down the road if I were you.
I too can't wear anything that isn't a silver or a gold. If you find cute earrings with Nickel in them, check out the local craft store to see if you can find the fittings in silver or gold to replace the ones on the Nickel ones. This way you can wear the earrings you like.
Before you get your ears pierced for good, just make sure you do it far enough in advance of the wedding as it will take a month or so before they are fully healed. =)
With your wedding in September, I would wait until afterwards. They take a while to heal and your ears sound like they may need a little more care.
I would only do it at a professional piercer (not a booth in the mall), because a reputable piercer will only use 316L surgical grade steel or other inert materials like glass or titanium, in addition to being up on the latest aftercare.
However, I would only do it if you are willing to follow all aftercare needs, in addition it takes about 2 months to heal lobe piercings.
yeahh im thinking no... LOL i forgot about the heal time... and i just had a thought of if they got infected or something.... yeah i guess clips it is!
I have my ears pierced and also have a nickel allergy. I have a few pairs of earrings that are higher quality metal that I wear to go out. Sometimes I wish I had a huge selection like some of my friends, but oh well. I will be wearing earrings for my wedding
I am the same way, but I never let my earring holes close. I honestly think you will be fine. You can find surgical steel earrings. I have found some at target before, but I am currently having a hard time finding the perfect inexpensive earring that is not sterling sliver or has nickel.
I wore clip ear rings until I was almost 19 :) ...you can buy "clip ons" to make any pierced pair at any good jewler and at Hobby Lobby/Michaels,etc.--good luck!
i might try converting a pair of pierced to clips i just dont want to do it with expensive earrings - wonder if jewelers do this for you??
I've seen tons of really cute, classy clip on earrings if you're not willing to take the plunge. It'll take a little looking around the interwebs, but I saw some while searching on Perfect Details.
I have a nickel allergy too- it's especially bad on my neck for some reason, I get a bad reaction to cheap necklaces every time. But more and more people are becoming aware of this problem and I'm finding more jewelry that's labeled "nickle free". I've gotten 3 sets of piercings in my ears and 1 cartridge and while I do get infections from time to time, they're usually a minor annoyance more than anything else. If you still want to do it, go to a professional piercing studio and they'll be able to find something that will work for you.
I wouldn't risk it- depending on how bad your allergy is. But, I have a similar issue and I only wear sterling silver or high karat gold. You can find amazing clips- I found a pair that is vintage sterling and they actually screw on- no kidding!
i have the same allergy!!! im wanting to get my belly button pierced and do you know how hard it is to find one thats not fake! lol just do it!

I am debating whether or not to get my ears pierced for the wedding.
I had them pierced when i was a baby, found out i was allergic to nickel so stopped wearing earrings that werent sterling silver or high carat gold. (i can also go with platinum. its a great allergy - no cheap jewelry) so my ears have grown over since then.
i wear clips every now and then, but i keep seeing all these super cute earings that would go great with my dress, and wondering if i should bite the bullet and get them pierced. i would have to go to a dermotologist to do it, since they have to deal with my nickel allergy... but...
what do you think?
