I’ll be getting married on the 3rd of August and just bought a very beautiful and expensive veil – it’s floor length, swiss dotted and has a beaded lace trimming – I bought it especially for the ceremony but seeing as I really like it… I thought maybe I could wear it also throughout the reception. The reception is a garden party so I’ll be moving around quite a bit. Would it be practical or would it maybe cover the back part of the dress? I think I’ll end up carrying it around on my arm. What do you think ladies?

Remove it. Hugging, danging, all of it will be a pain! I saw someone carry theirs and it honestly looks weird.

I removed my chapel length veil for the reception and I semi-regretted it. On the one hand, my veil would have been destroyed with all the crazy dancing and I’m happy that didn’t happen (and I’m also happy I voted against cutting it!). On the other hand, have a plan for your hair if taking the veil out would mess it up. While my hair still looked good, it was just down and the veil was a big part of the my hair styling, so I should have thought it through a little more.

That’s my wedding day!!:) how cool! i wouldn’t wear the veil at the reception. I think it’s doing too much especially since its floor length. everyone will be able to admire your dress if you loose the veil at the reception. That’s just my opinion tho.

I have a cathedral length veil and will keep it on for most if not all of the reception. You can have it bustled – ask your seamstress!

I will be removing mine. From everything I’ve heard, it gets pulled a lot if you wear it.
I’m taking the veil off and adding a blingy headband for the reception.

I plan on wearing mine throughout my reception. That’s my plan don’t know if I’m sticking to it.

I removed my cathedral veil once I arrived at the reception venue. It had already been stepped on twice, and on my way to the bathroom to take it out someone else stepped on it. I loved that veil too much to keep it on all night.

i loved my veil and i wore it all night. i did buy a pretty headband to wear just in case the veil became a nuisance, but i didn’t have any major problems with people tugging on it or anything.

I think if it was a shorter length you’d be fine. But you’d be tripped over it, getting it caught on things or people and sitting on it. All night long.

@gozobride: I know I plan to wear mine for cake cutting, so it is in the pictures. beyond that I”m not sure when I will remove it. I’m on the fence on before or after our first dance.

I wore mine the entire night, although I do wish I had had some photos taken without it.
ETA: I should note that my veil also was cathedral-length, and I wore it bustled during the reception until the very end, when I had the bustle taken out, and I carried it.
